We had dined in this restaurant twice and loved it, hence we returned with guests to make for a special experience. However, after the third course, everything slowed down including their attention. The first main course arrived and sat there with forgotten serving plates and...it took a while to get someone’s attention. The room was half empty and hence there should be no excuse of being short staffed. The remaining two main dishes arrived after we had finished the first main dish. They only have to turn sour once for us to hesitate dining taking our guests there again. Nonetheless, the food we had was good except for the unusual fish soup dish served as a mains.More

Maybe we ordered wrong but our tasting menu was plentiful and flavourless. First concern was the length and variety of menus. We settled on a tasting menu which was a mistake. The mapo tofu and the mango pudding were the highlights rest was absolutely tasteless....Expensive ingredients done poorly.More

Food was quite good. Lots of good flavors, excellent table and views, service was impeccable. However, the crucial flaw were a crab shell in chawanmushi, and a fish bone in the fish fillet. These were minor issues for us, but a crucial flaw in a

The server made us anxious, and seemed upset we only ordered tap water. She got several dishes wrong and served us the incorrect scorched dish while one of us wasn’t present. Because of the poor service we missed an after dinner reservation. The food was...average but we could probably find better quality at a hawker center.More

I am shocked that this restaurant was relegated from 2 stars to 1 because the food was amazing! The mapo doufu was definitely the highlight, beautiful ambiance and atmosphere, and the service staff was very friendly. Also had some of the best dim sum I've...ever had. Highly recommend if in Singapore!More

Most dishes were good but Sichuan dishes were disappointing. Good selection of vegetarian options. Service was abrupt, not up to the standard of a Michelin star restaurant.

We had a cosy celebration of my mum’s birthday on 9 Oct. Service staff Catherine was attentive and suggested that we used the lift to get to the main dinner hall, seeing that my mum has a slight mobility issue and is concerned that walking...down the flight of stairs would be inconvenient for her. We gladly accepted the offer but realised that it was a service lift that Catherine ushered and accompanied us to use and we had to cut through the kitchen area to get to the main dining hall. We thought it would be more appropriate if some kind of a ramp is built for easy access from level 35 to level 34 where the main dinner hall is, instead of using the service lift. We enjoyed the food and ambience of the restaurant. Service staff Yvonne also made a special arrangement of ‘shou tao’ buns presented with the cake that we brought to the restaurant and took lots of photos for us. We are grateful for the attentiveness of the service staff, delicious dishes that the chef has prepared and a beautiful ambience of the restaurant that created a memorable experience for us.More

Brought my mom here for lunch. Service was excellent from the beginning till end. I couldn't fault the reservation process handled by Catherine - she was very helpful and friendly. We arrived at the restaurant and Catherine was there to greet us. I didn't need...to identify myself; she was expecting us. The restaurant was elegantly gorgeous. We asked to sit by the window overlooking Orchard Road. After a while, the area was a little hot from the sun but they swiftly took out an air cooler for us. The service with a truly sincere smile stood out amongst the many Chinese restaurants we visited. The quality of the food was high though the items were simple. We had the weekday lunch sets which I thought was good value. The famed Mala Tofu had a refined depth to it and was not simply one note hot. Other items on the sets performed well enough. Tea ranged from S$6 to S$12 per person. Overall I thought it might be more of a Michelin 1 star than two but have to say even then, it's probably one of the best in overall rating amongst the 1 star Chinese restaurants we had visited. Few months after our visit they lost one star from two. It's unfortunate especially when I think Shisen Hanten is trying hard to retain its value in pricing for the customers while most other restaurants, especially the Michelin ones in the city are charging prices not commensurate with their standard. My mom was very happy with this restaurant and we would certainly visit Shisen Hanten again. .More

I am amazed by the Grand setting and gorgeous interior of this restaurant. Really enjoyed every minute of my lunch, seated on their comfortable semi-circle plush bench sofa. They offered a decent range of Dim Sums in their unique versions, during lunch time, like Duo...Flavour Xiao Long Bao (2 Regular and 2 Sichuan), which were great and blasting with Rice flavours from the “tang”. Steamed Rice Roll with Prawns and Asparagus were also good, generous fillings. My favourite was their Steamed Glutinous Rice with Chicken wrapped with Lotus Leaf, which was moist, flavourful and really fantastic. Rest of their Dim Sum dishes like Steamed Charcoal Custard Buns, Deep Fried Pork & Prawn Spring Roll, Flaky Baked Egg Tart and Pan-Fried Chinese Sausage Radish Cake, were of average taste to me. Ordered their Szechwan Hot & Sour Soup with Seafood (Its Savoury, abit spicy and tangy. Broth was thick and flavour addictive) and Chen’s Mapo Doufu (Tofu were soft & tender, aromatic, mouth-numbing but not spicy). Overall, it was a good lunch experience. Service staffs were patient, helpful and attentive. Will return for dining experience.More
