Upon arrival it appeared Becasse does not exist anymore and is now renames GCafe. Supposedly serving the same menu. We were not impressed with the laminated options and put off by the loud music and walked out.

I like to write simple quick reviews as I find it helpful to read others reviews myself. I also tend to focus on the positives. In this case I really struggle. $170 for lunch for 2 with wine. The wine was not great, pork belly...was dry, four (that I am aware of) deserts were unavailable, when I found one that was available it was very nice to be fair. Given the price I would expect a lot more overall. Poor value for money. On a positive note the staff were nice and the setting is lovely. Perhaps during the evening service the restaurant is a bit more on it's game.More
We are really happy with the food we had at this place ! Te value for money and food quality is fantastic ! We took the pork belly and it was amazing and the wagu burger - which had to be the best burger I...had in Singapore Or dessert we spoiled ourselves and went for the salted caramel tart - what a treat !! It's Devine If you want a good meal and dot want to break the bank in a lovely atmosphere then this is the place to come !More
This was a lunch for four and really was very very poor on a number of fronts. The ice water had no ice, we ordered four meals and four drinks - everything came at different times - i mean 10-15 mins apart - it was...like eating lunch alone four times. One meal which arrived 3rd was Salad??! the fourth meal arrived after a good 30 mins after the first and was under cooked. I wouldnt mind but they had 7 chef in the kitchen and only three tables in the restaurant - the other tables got the same service... This is the 4th time I've been and the 3rd time I've been disappointed - thats it from me. LOOK at the photos - four people, one empty, one half empty, one just arrived and one still missing. the other photo is blooded chicken - COME ON!!! the restaurant comped the chicken (which we didn't eat anyway) but still charges service 11%.... All in All not good. By the way, I'm pretty sure the pricing has gone UP also on same menu items.. all these ratios are wrong it should be :- competitive pricing, timely service, great food, great atmosphere, industrious staff..... unfortunately not. having the someone tinker away with her laptop with one of the chefs whilst were all waiting for service just is bad form. Im sorry but on this review i cannot think of anything positive or make a recommendation for others.More
We sat outside and were served by a pleasant man who was very attentive. The Moreton bay bugs were pricy and if I was having that as a main course I would have been hungry. The steak frites were good. Our bottle of wine had...to be sent back but was quickly replaced with another. The desserts looked very tasty.More
Twice in the last week, one lunch and one dinner. Not crowded, very good salads, some less common items like grilled octopus, crab macaroni and cheese were all good. Good sized portions. Desserts were good too - apple tart, lemon meringue tart, ice cream. Only...disappointment were the waffles were too soft, nicely crisp outside inside! Yes, very classy decor - black and white bistro. Prices are reasonable, can't understand why the place isn't packed (yet?)!!More
Becasse is a high-end artisan bakery and European restaurant nestled in the heart of Dempsey Hill, and is under the subsidiary of none other than Jones The Grocer. The entire setting was simply gorgeous - vintage, French, classy - with the whole black-and-white, tiled themes....Upon stepping in, one feels as though time has stopped, and we are trapped in the retro days of good, old-fashioned bakeries . We had the High Tea set - the items were delicately set on top of the black blocks, resting ever so delicately flaunting its display of pastries proudly. The service crew explained each item on the long glass plank to us briefly. There were 5 sweet items and 3 savoury ones along with a pot of tea for just SGD$20.00. One of the items was a tiny pot of creamy Pot of Hazelnut Cappuccino - it was like a coffee cream dream - smooth, velvety rich, resplendent strongly of cappuccino's aroma and flavor. It was like eating a thick cup of solid cappucino, complete with froth and rich cocoa shavings. I loved this. Then there was this tiny Banana Tart with salted peanuts was lovely. The banana flavor was strong and salted peanuts complemented it well. Next, I tried the Prawn Salad on Lettuce - delicious, succulent and juicy in texture and flavor. This was my favorite savoury item on the entire Hightea platter. My only complaint was that it could have been bigger, lol. We also shared their signature Salted Caramel Macaron Milkshake (SGD$8.00) - simply because it looks so inviting and pretty from all the photos I have glimpsed. It left us a little downcast because the only "salted" parts were probably the cheese popcorn tossed in, as well as the blue macaron as seen. The milkshake itself was very milky / vanilla in flavor; we were glad we shared one instead of ordering one each. I can only speak for the eggs ben and the salmon version of it with coddled eggs. It was great. Had my usual English breakfast to go with it but nothing special about the tea.
I was looking for a light meal for dinner - after all those noodles, dumplings and chilli crab!! Becasse was exactly what I was after, steak, salad and a glass of wine was perfect. Its in a quiet part of Ion and the waitress was...lovely. As a solo traveller for business it was very pleasant to have a nice dinner reading my magazine!More
Had high hopes for this restaurant as suggested by friends , arrived , was not that busy ; ordered then the chaos seemed to start 25min to get Starters (nothing challenging) which then spread out over further 45min from first dish of 4 to last...dish ...soup ( carrot ) was under seasoned and tasted of baby food. Main courses arrived, grilled chicken for one of the party , but no side orders, it then turned out they had brought a chicken that was meant for another table , again the dishes arrived over course of next 25 min with the greens side order for the chicken arriving 40min after the main dish was placed Rabbit Schnitzel dry and over cooked Burger for our daughter was raw in middle , and then sent back the same burger was incinerated and returned to the table reheated ....so had to be cancelled The manager did his best to apologise but was obviously not getting anywhere with the kitchen staff who were just shrugging their shoulders , the pass was in chaos with staff scratching heads and looking confused as other orders seemed to go wrong The Frites for an order of Steak Tartare arrived 20 min after the dish was put on table, fresh pepper for tartare was asked for 3 times before we had to go up and get it from counter ourselves. The manager was stressed and obviously fighting a losing battle , there is some mystery concept that this is a sharing plate restaurant , and that is why things come out in odd times ( not sure how a bowl of carrot soup or a steak tartare with a slice of brioche toast could be a sharing dish) , which makes no sense given the menu Management did their best to recover and apologise , they probably deserve another go , but was a pretty destroyed social evening with friends as a result.More
Had a very disastrous dinner last night in Dempsey. 5 of us sitting at @ table and they didnt manage to bring 5 starters or the 5 mains at the same time which is a recurring problem in Singapore!! We had to pour our own...wines (2 bottles) and they even managed to screw up the child cheese burger, so she ended up having only bread & butter for dinner...... The maitre d'hotel supposedly in charge, blamed the waiting staff, when in fact it was a kitchen problem. Oh yes the chef does not work evenings or weekends. Maybe he has chosen the wrong trade especially that 4 of us at the hotel are or was in the hotel industry!!!!!!More
As a former employee and now a regular customer, I love Becasse. The food is great. Try the king crab rillettes to start with and continue on with moreton bay bugs, the entrecôtes and a nice salad. Their sophisticated cocktails are also a must try...! Coco Chérie and Moulin rouge are my favourite ! Well down to the team that maintain a very good level of customer service !More
We regularly come to Becasse at Dempsey Hill for brunch on the weekend. Sitting on the verandah under the fans, surrounded by green palms is always a relaxing start to the day. The coffee is decent, the food consistently good value for money, and the...staff always friendly and attentive. Avoid the long queues and overpriced coffee elsewhere and head to Becasse at Dempsey.More
I was going out with few friends...try looking for a restaurant.when we pass 1 restaurant we try to come in ... Oh god..is so suprised us...the best restaurant i havent see....good service and all totally awesome..will come back
I have been here a number of times and always had great service. A recent visit changed that when we were asked to sit outside. I presume this was because our group was in sports clothes as we had planned a walk after having our...breakfast. We were fresh out of the AC in our cars, so it was pretty offensive by the (?) manager. We ended up staying, despite the rude start, and were treated to a very ordinary coffee and nothing to write home about breakfast. Tasty but not outstanding. However the bread we took home was good. Atmosphere was nil. Inside was empty and large, so maybe it was a good thing to have been sent outside - despite the heat. In need of a bit of customer service Mr Manager.More
