Tucked away at 158 Kallang Way, it is like going back in time when you step into the restaurant. The crackling pork belly is too good to miss & their Salmon is delicious. Service could be a little friendlier when it is needed for a...perfect visit.More

A brilliant restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food. The owner Frederick is a lovely man with a great grasp of English and a fantastic understanding of what you as a customer want from a visit to a restaurant. I 100% recommend you pop in...if you have the opportunity.More

Offer good food and a visual feast of memorabilia. Western Asian fusion dishes should satisfy most palate and the friendly staffs makes you feel welcome.

Great place to sample Hainanese Western. The place is filled with memorabilias from 70s and 80s, it’s like walk into a time capsule. While waiting for your food or drink would recommend taking abit of time to explore the different corners of the restaurant as...there are plenty of wonderful items of the past to be discovered. Service staff were super friendly and accommodating. Love the way they greet the customers by saying ‘welcome home’. The menu is quite extensive with a good mix of western and local dishes. Although the food presentation is nothing to shout about, the taste of it is just superb. Portions are generous without being overwhelming. Highly recommend their signature dishes, especially their pork chops. Will definitely make another visit to this hidden gem.More

Visited this eatery at Carpmael Road twice in a week. The first was a lunch catch up with an old friend and the second was a family dinner. Got to meet the friendly owner Frederick Phua both times. The Hainanese pork chop, Hainanese curry rice...and beef stew are definite winners. I’m pretty sure many other dishes are good as well and we will be back to try them. We found that the beef curry is mediocre though. Definitely a place worth visiting. Do call or send them a WhatsApp message for reservations if you are turning up for a Friday night dinner or lunch and dinner during the weekends.More

This is a charming restaurant helmed by a really friendly owner. It serves traditional British Hainan fare such as fried pork chop, ox tail stew and other staples. The breaded pork chop is the highlight. It is very tender and well done. The truffle fries...are also very well done, fried just crispy but not burnt.More

British Hainan is located in the quaint charming Joo Chiat Place enclave. We were there at noon and it was already filled with customers. We ordered their signature oxtail stew ($29.90) and Hainanese Pork Chop (14.90) and a glass of flavorful lemongrass drink. Both dishes...were delicious, though we felt that they may have tweaked the seasoning for the oxtail stew as compared with previous visits. Restaurant is charmingly filled with curios and antiques, and it enhanced the dining experience.More

Already visited 3 times, a small place with friendly staff. The chap chye, tofu, braised oxtail stew and pan fried salmon are my favourites. Other dishes yet to try.

Staff are very friendly here and would recommend dishes if you are first timer. Pan fried salmon on mashed potato is not on menu but recommended by waitress - skin is crispy, whilst meat is tender. We also had pork trio, hainan pork chop is...really good, crispy and tangy. Husband likes the grilled pork chop as well, but the sausage tastes 'powdery', lacking the juicy texture we liked in sausages. For desserts, we shared the ondeh cake which is moist, with added crunch fr the coconut flakes.More

My first time today was recommended by my friend Andy and I must say fantastic food, the Hainanese Pok chop...delicious, the beef broth was smooth and flavourful. Met Mr Frederick and he explained with so much passion the old style cooking of his dishes and...how important to keep its authenticity cooking Hainan cuisine. I will be back this Saturday for more of British Hainan delicious food.More

British Hainan is a one-of-a-kind restaurant serving up delicious “Hainanese western” cuisine with a dash of nostalgia. The owner Mr Frederick Puah is a real character, and the “red dining room” at the back of the restaurant filled with Chinese Mao Zedong-era to present day...collectibles is an oddity that is a wonder to behold. The food hits the spot - the traditional oxtail stew was very tasty (as advertised, no MSG!) and the surprising favourite was the delectable baby back ribs which I would recommend without reservation.More

British Hainan - British food with a dash of Hainanese chef ingenuity. Restaurant serve excellent ox tail stew, lamb shank, pork chop, ribs and more. Not only do they have western menu, the restaurant also serve very tasty Hainanese cuisine such as mutton soup, beef...noodles, chap chay (mixed vegetables), Hainanese version of pork chop. The restaurant is located in a residential area and you probably need to be familiar with Joo Chiat to find the place. Recently they have also added a new restaurant at Kallang area. The owner is very friendly and would recommend you their speciality as well as a good portion for you so that you don’t over order. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone who love good food.More
