When one pays SGD495 for 2 including a glass of wine each everything should be perfect.....
The atmosphere, service, knowledge of the staff cannot be faulted.
We had the 5 course dinner which was more than enough but the twist is you don't know what's coming. All the dishes were presented beautifully and the Achar was an amazing twist on a very Asian dish. However, the wagyu beef was the chewiest I have ever had, worse than an ordinary chewy beef hence only 4 marks.
I would go back for a special occasion though.

After visiting 9 of the top rated Michelin star restaurants in Singapore this Summer, Corner House was a great surprise. So much so that we returned the week after and the experience was just as great, the restaurant's team having taken care of adjusting their menu based on what we had already tried a few days before. Chef David puts his personal history and his heart into his cuisine which combines French tradition with tropical touches, resulting in dishes that are truly original to him. The service is impeccable and never missed a beat. The location inside the Botanical Gardens is unique. Truly one of the best in Singapore.

Ambience: 9/10 (fine dining)
Food: 7/10
Price: 6/10
Recommend: yes
Would I go again: not so near in the future or when it has a menu change probably
We opted for the 3-course lunch and was satisfied with it. Hubs added in $24 for the choice of beef and he truly enjoyed the beef dish. I personally liked the burst of flavours that came around each dish, though it is just a spoonful. And the personalised story cards that came along with each dish was really interesting.
I put a 4/5 rating because I would think there is still room for improvements... on a punch factor. :)

A highly anticipated evening - which turned out to be a slightly underwhelming experience.
We were happy we got a spot at this highly raved about place. On arrival we were already a bit surprised that you are taken via what seems a back-door entrance via an extra kitchen to the restaurant upstairs. The atmosphere of the house upon arrival is beautiful, but inside it needs much more love and care (and cleaning of the stairs and carpet?!). Such an opportunity to bring back the glory of the outside of the house also on the inside.
We were sat inside where the tables are very simple with no real attention to detail (the tables and lighting reminds you of any coffee shop). The lights are quite bright. So if you book, ask for a table near the windows, much more romantic and special.
We started with a glass of champagne from the champagne trolley, served by our ‘highlight of the evening’, the sommelier! He is a star!
After quite a while the bread basket (delicious) arrived, followed by some amuses. They were lovely too. Overall we paired the dishes with some excellent wines.
But before we knew it, within one hour after arrival we heard: “this is your fourth dish” (we thought we were still at amuses and considering that the bread was served after 15 minutes the rest went fast)....
The acar / achards and ‘spirit of singapore’ were the best dishes of the evening, plus the desert, Mont Blanc.
The two inspirations of wagyu were just a bit bland just like the ‘more meat please course’ and overall it seemed the chef was a bit afraid of using spices (or salt). The others were simply just not wow (where our inside setting didn’t help).
The cards accompanying the courses with the explanation where the inspiration came from were lovely.
I have never been to a Michelin star restaurant where within 1.5 hours from arrival you are served the cheque already, because the meal is over? These experiences are supposed to be a full evening in my opinion.
Overall is was an ok, but a slightly underwhelming experience, with again kudos to the sommelier!

We came here to celebrate a discuss date attracted by the location of the restaurant, seated in a beautiful botanic garden. The arrival experience was so so as we were brought in through a ‘back area’ looking staircase. We were seated in a table under bright lights where there are many other tables available. The courses came in with a prototype description by the staff, there’s no passion in the voice. The same staff lean against the side table and chit chat with each other. Service were sub standard with basic flaws such as thumb-printing the plates on the rim, mixing up our water with next table, dropping the plates on the wooden top. I wouldn’t be that critical if the price was 1/3. But even a thank you when we walk out. As a console, food was not bad with a lot of thoughts being put in, but food temperature was bad, cold food luke warm and hot food luke warm. With $200 average check and $38/ glass of wine you do have far too many choices in Singapore.

The food was good without being surprising or excellent (amuse bouche excluded) The staff skill and service level was varied. One of the waiters told us they do not have a sommelier but take the wines recommended by their wine partner. The pairing was disappointing, not adding layers or levels of intrigue to the food and served in small portions. There are many gastronomic experiences in Singapore at this price level, Corner house is not one of them based on our experience.

I am a fan of the kitchen of corner house and i was never disappointed with the quality and the ideas of the kitchen team. Until recently i was also of the opinion, that the service team is great. But this changed at my last visit.
Let me tell you my story:
I walk up to the entrance of the restaurant, Arrived 6.15pm. Oops to early (i guess not the first client ever who was early there). As it was raining there was no option to walk in botanical garden. The restaurant is opening at 6.30. Anyway the hostess is there and doesn’t greet because same time I arrive she gets a call. So i am standing in front of a cheap yellow plastic cord, which does not allow to go in to the restaurant. I look at the hostess and she looks anywhere but not at me, and avoids to look at me. I wait 5 minutes and Inah (that is the name of the hostess) still talks to someone who wants to book. She does not make a move and does not say a word to me. I see people inside the restaurant and make signs. Nobody still wants to talk to me. Inah still very busy with her call. I decide to take off the plastic cord and step into the restaurant. A wonder happens and Inah talks to me. Actually she does not talk but snaps at me „we open at 6.30‘ and continues to talk into her phone. I do get the attention of someone inside and after more then 10‘ someone came out to talk to me and asked me how i can be helped with. I told i have a reservation but the unprofessional hostess did even not ask me what she can do but just ignored me. The gentleman was very understanding and apologized and asked me to wait inside at a table and brought me a water (not offered but i had to pay for it).
At 6.30 i was offered to go to my table and then the evening was lovely as usual at corner house. Food was delicious, service in the restaurant was good. Just the way you expect in a high end restaurant where you pay the pay the price.
Did the hostess Inah ever came up with an excuse of her unprofessional behavior and her not acceptable way of treating clients? No she didn’t!
Seems during Covid times Inah has lost the idea of working in the service industry and to be happy to serve clients in a professional way. May be she would be better working in a low cost restaurant where it doesn’t really matter how to great and engage with clients.
I am wondering how comes that Corner House is accepting such an unprofessional person working in their team and and spoiling the overall experience of a top notch place.

Great personable service at Corner House, where they ferried us to and from the visitor’s drop-off point due to the rainy weather. They were also very enthusiastic in helping us celebrate a birthday.
Had the 5-course meal which was a fun experience with cards describing the inspiration behind each course. Food quality was good, even those outside of the courses (the belacan butter for the bread basket was uniquely yummy)!
However, as it was omakase style, we had to depend on the staff to recommend us a wine since we didn’t know what type of dishes would be served. Unfortunately, the staff recommended a full-bodied red wine when white wine would have been more suitable. Staff also did not inform us that coffee and tea at the end of the meal was chargeable when they offered it to us.
Overall, still a very good meal experience.

The whole experience isn’t worth a Michelin Star. The food is average except for EGG which stands above the rest.
Some food association are questionable like a delicate paired with a strong curry which killed the taste of the fish.
The constant reference to the French cuisine is irrelevant and lousy.
Some of the staff members need training urgently: Mumbling the dishes presentation in a very mechanical manner doesn’t provide a good experience.
In comparison to other Michelin Star and gastronomic restaurants in Singapore, Corner House isn’t worth its price positioning based on our experience. Definitely not.

What an interesting place you can find in the corner house, as typical for places where they try to give you multiple flavours in small dishes, corner house surprises you their dishes. A dishes with different topics and ingredients as meat, fish, duck and other give you a balance lunch that you can enjoy.
Sure it is costlt, but the service and attention is great. Dont be afraid of ask more than once to the waitress to explain you the dishes, and try to enjoy the view and the serenity of being in the middle of the botanic gardens in singapore.
Small tip, if you come as a couple just pick the whispering corner as the location, since is a semi private place that you can enjoy with your partner.

The fantastic lineup of the set menu, a 5 course meal, consisting of seafood, both fish and shellfish, poultry, and meats combined with carefully selected side dishes.
The presentations are well chosen, with the crockery being a part of it as well, and it is delicate!
The amuse-bouche with liquid foie gras inside a shell, was awakening, where the fluids gave layers of flavour.
Very impressed with the oyster dish, where the chef have brought the shoreline to the table with this dish.
The favorite dish was the wagyu cheek, with mushrooms, the meat is so tender! and balanced out with the sauce. The shallot is also contributing to the dish, elevating it the next level, being little crunchy and soft inside.
The dessert with peanut butter and jam and kaya did reawake some memories (except for the kaya which is very specific to the south east asia), and was very pleasant with the mix of textures.

Have not been to Corner House for some time. Thought we wanted a nice lazy (boozy) lunch googled and saw they've omakase and wine pairing! Called and made a reservation for 2. As I told them I want a nice quiet table, the person said they'll put us in a "quiet corner' but min. spend SGD 150 a table. We usually spend more than that but for a request of min. spend to have a nice table I thought was a put off policy.
We were ushered to a very nice table looking out to the trees, seats are comfortable. Champagne was immediately rolled out and asked us which we prefer. I said pls let us see your wine menu as I know Corner house wine by the glass is exorbitant. Indeed it is at SGD 49 a glass. We head for 5 course Omakase and wine pairing.
Overall was a very nice experience but Omakase per dish make us feel we're in a mini-land. Is laughable as they try so hard to make it so small yet we know is also a good way to cut cost. The only thing that was adult size are the starter bread. They're very good too!
Their Omakase is not suitable for anyone who has a good appetite. I'll head to Chef's Table omakase anytime though ambiance and chairs are no way as comfortable as Corner House.

The Corner House Restaurant is set upstairs in an old colonial black and white house within the Botanical Gardens. To access you need to be dropped by taxi to the entrance and then it is a short walk. The restaurant is small and the service impeccable offering a stunning degustation meal comprising beautifully presented dishes accompanied by a card describing the chef's inspiration. It was a really special night and not as expensive as several other degustation menus on offer in Singapore. Our congratulations to the chef.
One thing to note when booking: the choice is "inside" or "verandah" but in fact on the verandah, it is fully enclosed and air-conditioned and very pleasant

We were rushed to get all the food done.
Better timing should be arranged.
If there is a deadline of 3pm for lunch session, should not accept customers at 1pm.
We couldn't have any slot before 1pm for reservation and we reached on time at 1pm. But it was a rush to finish all the courses by 3pm.
Other things (food, environment etc) are good.

We got dropped by the taxi at a wrong place. We call the restaurant to get some help on how to find the place, but the person picking up the phone was unhelpful. Not interested to help guide us aside from it’s not the right car park.
Note: We were not familiar with botanic garden at all.
We then got seated unfortunately close to a loud customer and under the Aircon vent. Because of the extra walk to find corner house both my wife and I were sweaty and started to be cold due to the AC blowing cold air on us.
We asked to change table, and got placed in a nicer and quieter, thanks for that!
Overall food was good and wine pairing was good. But the service was a bit rushed and never had time to finish our wine that a new one was poured. I felt the service could pay more attention to us, pacing these glasses better.
Over good food but I would expect better service from a place like that.
