Visited this restaurant again with my friends after a number of years. Think the last time we visited was sometime before covid strikes. Food quality and standard still very well maintained. Definitely must try the lor mee which is a classic dish of theirs. We...tried the pork trotters mee hoon this time too. The bee hoon didn’t have the taste of the pork trotters and we assumed they might be fried separately. This was one dish we thought could be done better by making the bee hoon more flavorful. Other than that, the usual old school home—cooked taste which we liked.More

After hearing good reviews by @reenegey, I decided to try the Heng Hua food here for myself. Also helmed by the third generation, just like @laiwahrestaurant, it was good to see that they are trying equally hard to maintain good food at affordable prices for...the masses. If you don't know what to order and are just thinking to try their signature or recommended dishes, you will end up none the wiser. Almost everything on the menu is recommemded😅. Which is a pretty good strategy actually 🤔. The iconic and staple Heng Hua dishes, such as their Lor Mee, Fried Bee Hoon and 啦啦 Stir Fried Flower Clams were all well done. They weren't oily, and not overpowering in tastes but yet yummy and comforting. Their Stir Fried Kai Lan with Beancurd Skin was refreshing and not salty, not oily. I ordered the small portions of everything, so that we could try more dishes. The small Oyster Soup, with Egg and Seaweed, was fresh and like homemade soup. But there were only 5 oysters. So if you are the one serving, do start by distributing one each, before you run out of oysters half way... 😅 The Fried Prawn Fritters were much smaller than expected, but the prawn and batter were fresh and came piping hot. Good enough to eat on its own, or you could dip in their sweet sauce. I enjoyed their drinks and tried almost every single cold drink that they have. Iced Lychee Tea was my favourite, followed by Cold Barley Drink and Lime juice. They open 12noon-10pm daily, except on Monday. #choowai2022 #wongchoowaieats #wongchoowai #mingchungrestaurant #sgfoodinfluencers #sgfoodbloggers #sgfoodshare #yummy #dinner #henghua #food #foodie #foodphotography #lala #lormee #beehoon #chinesefoodMore

To avoid the queues, we arrived 15 minutes before their opening time. Delighted to be seated and orders taken speedily. We tried many dishes and found the cooking good. The Lor Mee was fragrant and tasty without being salty. The kailan and bee hoon was...fried with a good wok hei. The prawn rolls were decent. They served different dipping/chilli sauces with different dishes.More

Comfort food. Taste and looks like home cook food in a traditional restaurant setting. There are only a handful of dish available here. All of it has being here since my first time dinning here about 30years ago.

I deliver food from Ming Chung alot because of my love for their fried bee hoon (it looks dry but it’s totally moist in your mouth), topped with chilli lala and their prawn paste chicken is absolutely out of this world. I can’t really put...a description to the prawn paste chicken because - how can the chicken still tastes so good even though it’s been delivered? You just gotta try!More

This lesser known causal eatery in the small vicinity of the Michelin star Putien restaurant serves similar cuisine at much lower prices, and is truly deserving of more attention. Takeaway options, online and even phone orders are welcome.

First night in Singapore and walked past this restaurant. It was busy which we took as a good sign. The owner was by the door & welcomed us in and helped with the menu. As my wife can’t eat shellfish we were recommended some dishes....We thought we had over ordered but managed to scoff the lot. I had the house special clams which were superb and the chicken wings (in prawn paste) with chilli sauce (which most tables seemed to be ordering) and again excellent.More

Have been paronising this restaurant in early 90s. The standard of the food has been the same. The boss is very active on the ground and all his staffs give in 100% of good service. Is a must try their sambal lala, fried lala beehoon,...white lor mee, har cheong kai, fried fish and others.More

We typically avoid the Jalan Besar area when we are picking places during peak (meal) times, but for Ming Chung, it is worth it. Always back for the same things, especially the Har Cheong Kai (Prawn paste chicken) and Bee Hoon. Thinking about it just...makes me want to go back again now!More

I love the food, but unfortunately the impression was ruined, as the staff was rude and unfriendly. The managing lady was very nice, however without her presence one waitress was all the time staring and showed her negative attitude towards us. After such behavior we...stopped visiting this restaurant, however the food was perfectMore
