We ordered two plates for two and it was really nice. The menu offers a buffet but we chose to cook our meat, which was the best choice because of the taste of the meat. Absolutely reccomendable! It was not really expensive and the staff...was always helpful.More

Not so comfortable as the whole restaurant is so warm n hot. Sweating all the way moreover we are bbq-ing.

Two weeks ago our family of 5 had our buffet dinner @ Novena branch and it was a stark contrast to what it was before. The food ordered through their app took a very long time to come and most of 90 minutes were spent...waiting for the food. When we asked the staff we were told there was only 2 staff to prepare the food & they can’t do anything! Finally when we had the ice cream it tasted so bad, we gave our feedback & were told it is made in their central kitchen! We left the place still hungry after spending more than $400 and a bitter taste in our mouth!More

Great as always, expensive but great variety. Good if cooking was offered. Take Amex however have gone ordinary. Will return to see if things get better.

My family made a booking for dinner on 11 May at the Chijmes outlet. It was via the web, and we had both website and verbal confirmation on the phone one week perior to the dinner. On the day of the booking we had got...there only to find the restaurant closed?? We were not notified at all!! And had to spend 13 sgd on valet parking and was stuck without a restaurant. We then drove to UE Square’s Gyu Kaku. We went for the buffet menu for 5 pax, and were told we had 1.5 hours to order. The waiter Joseph Tan had offered us a rectangle table with 2 grills, but we felt the round table with 1 grill was better for seating 5 pax. We were not aware that the grill would cook so slowly. Throughout the dinner, Joseph Tan proceeded to make passive aggressive and rude remarks to tell us they would close at 10pm, and that we should have used the table with 2 grills instead. I understand the need to close up by closing time, which we feel badly for, but the rude remarks were extremely uncalled for. Even though the charcoal was already not producing much heat, we were too pressurized and afraid to ask for new charcoal because of passive aggressive the staff was being. Horrible experience, never going to Gyu Kaku again.More

I have never felt or needed to right a review ever. This is the first review i have written & am so dissapointed with the Gyu Kaku. The behaviour of what i believe to have been the person in charge of this restutant.I have been...all around the world & never have been spoken to during a meal so rudely & felt the need to leave.. Whilst holidaying in Singapore we were walking about the city & saw this restaurant, having never been before, we decided to give it a try. I went into the restaurant as it was closing for a few days so booked for the end of our wonderful time in Singapore, saving I hoped the best to last. The man that took the booking was very helpful, also pointing us in the direction of a local hawker centre. We arrived on time for our meal not knowing/ excited about the food we were to receive. Not having been to a restaurant like this before we didn't know what the portion sizes, course were to be. Being tourists we only have track & trace blue tooth apps in our phones so were unable to order our all you eat buffet via QR on our phones. So the very helpful man that was serving us was very polite & helpful. He came up with a plan to help & gave us some paper & pen & told us to give us a better ideal of the meals to look at the a la cart menu. If these weren't avaliable or were extra he would let us know. VERY HELPFUL EXPLAINING. AT this point, I believe to be the manager arrived, berating me about looking at the the a la carte menu & being given paper so that I could draw pictures. I tried to explain that the server was trying to be helpful. He also tried to do this on his behalf & ours. He was told to shut up several times. THERE WAS NO REPECT FOR HIS STAFF FOR BEING HELPFUL. from an employers point of view, mine, if an error is made you talk to them when convenient away from the customer. This was very disappointing to my wife & the member of staff. My wife & I were extremely disappointed, upset & annoyed. We settled the bill In full & left. Saying thank you to our server & leaving respectfully. Instead of saying how angry & disappointed we were. In retrospect we should have questioned our bill, we felt so unwelcome we felt intimidated to paying in full and leaving ASAP. We paid over 200 Singapore dollars for two drinks and 3 starters and some bbq meal! Not quite an extensive BBQ experience as advertised. After 9 days of holidaying in Singapore, this is the one and only time we have received bad service! I hope that if you visit the Gyu Kaku, you have a better service and welcome than we did?More

Reservation via Chope was smooth. Arrived 10 minutes earlier and we're ushered unto our assigned table. Additional orders can be made through scanning the QR code which then items will be served shortly. The food is great, A4 wagyu beef almost literally melts in the...mouth. Very good and recommended specially for people with big appetite and stamina to eat. Thumbs up and will definitely be back again.More

Good ambience and service Food wise, went for premium set but found the quantities quite little for the very high price. The set was nearly $100 per pax, could have added in dessert or topped up the meat.

Service was gd!! Price kind of high.. if reduce price will be better..,surrounding was gd!!! Enjoy my dinner!!

Cosy restaurant. They use charcoal to cook the food. Control of heat is dependent on you. Wagyu beef from Jap or Australia for selection. Premium meats , premium price. Not all selection of meats I preferred.

I know, this is a DIY BBQ place, why am I writing about udon? There are choices for people like our family who do not like DIY BBQ meals. This restaurant also serves worthwhile and tasty sets which do not break the bank. Starts with...a salad and a side dish, we usually go for the gyozas. Then a choice of a main dish. We love the beef udon. My son tried the don. For the udon, the broth is tasty, and filled with a generous portion of beef. You end with a tea drink (hot or cold) and a cup of ice-cream. We find the staff friendly, warm and attention. Will definitely be there again!More
