The food was delicious, especially the angel hair, a must try. Service was excellent. However I thought that the food was a tad too expensive. Otherwise it was a great experience.

We enjoyed an excellent 6 course pescatarian meal at Gunther’s. Beautiful parlor type room. Great vibe well thought out. The sommelier’s nailed the pairings. He is passionate about wine, especially Burgundy. We enjoyed nice conversations about the wines. Highly recommended
I went to this restaurant based on a high recommendation by a foodie friend and I have to say it really didn’t disappoint. The service from manager is one of the best I’ve had in SG and the food was very delicious. I always enjoy...simple, traditional and authentic food and Gunther’s has provided me everything I wanted. Went for the 6-course menu and the portion was just right. Surprising there’s quite a lot of carbs on the menu but that’s exactly how I like it. The meal was filling but not excessive. Overall a pleasant experience and I’d definitely come back again.More
As I entered Gunther, it already gives me the "homey" Michelin feel without over doing the extravagent decor. Their tables are set up in different rooms, with around 4-5 tables in each room I guess. I particularly liked their Angel hair pasta with Oscietra caviar...which I thought was the perfect starter under this Singapore weather. It was refreshing with a taste that paved my way to the main course. I choose the roasted duck breast as my main course but probably it was not prepared the traditional way and I found the cut to be too thinly sliced up. It just wasn't my expected way to prepare this dish, no one to blame.. I always like to try new ways of cooking but maybe this one is not for me... The surprise came as the dessert, fine apple tart... now this suits into my appetite on the way how this was presented... it was so light and not filling at all... but yet the flavor was all there. One comment on the team of staff is that I found the communication to be too standard and mechanical... if more observation and attentiveness is shown, this will surely elevate the dining experience to the next level.More
The above items are the best I have tasted. Pasta is chewy yet easy to eat. Crab leg is so juicy but expensive...
With so many fine dining restaurants in Singapore & better value , not worth going back . Compared to previous dining experiences here, I have to admit I was very disappointed.
Excellent food and service Sean went the extra mile in splitting the french lamb and beef dishes We went for the truffle menu, amounts of perigord was excellent would go here again
Best quality ingredients used, superb service, highly recommended. We will come back to try another dish.
Service was mediocre. I asked for warm water , waiter insisted not available , only still or sparkling. I wonder how they make tea then. It was a birthday celebration and none of the picture taken by waiter was clear. All blur …… Being a...half French and having tried quite a lot of modern French I find the Food not impressive. The angel hair as a starter is very strange, being a cold dish doesn’t make it a lighter dish somehow. The stronger flavour also dwarfed the main dish afterwards. The foie gras was not properly pan fried to bring out the flavour Sea bass didn’t feel fresh and presentation was not appealing. While there was petit fours , there’s no amuse bouche … Bread was the only good dish among all. Am actually surprised baby chair was available …..More
We enjoyed our dinner last Saturday. Staff was attentive and service excellent. We had their signature angel hair pasta, baby milk fed lamb, Japanese red snapper. The fish was exceptionally fresh and delicious. For dessert, the apple tart was surprisingly good. The staff was also...very kind to offer to portion every dish into 2 plates so we can share our food and enjoy more varieties. Overall, very good but prices tend to be generally high.More
Amazing food; every dish was simply divine. Simple but cooked to perfection with freshest ingredients!
Gunther never fail to disappoint. The service was attentive without being intrusive. What you expect from fine dining are all there. Strongly recommended. The cold angel hair pasta was unforgettable - hit all the right notes.
My family’s experience in Gunther’s left much to be desired. I ordered the degustation menu while my family members ordered the A La Carte items. We were first served with baguette and butter which complemented each other well. For the appetiser, we ordered the Cold...Angel Hair Pasta. The pasta, was rather plain in taste and flavour, and definitely did not feel like it was worth $70 considering the portion served. There was nothing outstanding about the presentation of the dish as well. The appetiser for the degustation menu was the Toro Carpaccio, and was not up to expectation. The portion was small and the flavours in the dish were not palatable to my mouth. For the main course, we ordered the Alaskan King Crab leg with tomato rice. This was also the 2nd course in the degustation menu. This dish, although passable, left much to be desired for the price. The portions for $148 were barely filling for the stomach. The crab served was also not particularly flavourful and rather plain for what I expected for fine dining. My other family member was served the Spit Roasted quail for the main course. This was a good dish where the flavours of the quail and spices could be wonderfully tasted. The dish was mildly on the salty side however. Although there was nothing bad about the dish, it was most definitely not value for money considering the portions offered. The third course in the degustation menu was unquestionably the best. I was served beef and the beef was extremely juicy. The beef was a thin cut which was nicely cooked and complemented the corn and onion offered well. This course swayed my opinion of the restaurant slightly more positively. For desserts, we ordered the Apple Tart and the floating island of chocolate. The Apple Tart was an interesting dish served with a crunchy crust, coupled with a slightly sour apple paste inside. This was a decent dish but not outstanding. As for the floating island of chocolate, it was decent as well but the portion was extremely small for a dessert of its price. The presentation of the dish was also terrible, and the dish looked nothing like what I expected out of a fine dining restaurant. The worst part of the experience was probably the service and the ambience. The staff were unable to adequately answer questions we had about the dishes, and left very curt or vague responses. I had enquired about what went into the Toro Carpaccio I was served, but the waiter simply repeated the item name without much elaboration. Refills for baguette were also slow upon request. What left me most disgusted was how the waiter offered us a choice of still or sparkling water, and we were charged an exorbitant price of $24 for 2 bottles of water. This was only discovered upon making payment. In all my previous dining the price of such beverages were explicitly stated. I was left with the impression that I was deceived. The ambience was also poor as the restaurant was rather full when we visited and noisy. It lacked adequate privacy. The seats we offered were of good quality though. All in all the experience left us disappointed in terms of quality and quantity of food, service quality and environment. The worst part of the visit was the value of money for the food and overall package. I doubt I will come back to the restaurant again when I have had much better fine dining experiences for cheaper prices.More
My husband said very good so I chose that to be fair to the restaurant. I would have chosen average myself as I felt there was a mix of hits and mixes. For the seasonal lunch menu, we chose a different starter, main course and...dessert (paying extra for the cold angel hair pasta and apple tart). The cold angel hair pasta with caviar was pleasant, but it is not a unique combination. I remember trying a similar dish at another restaurant. Perhaps I am old fashioned. While the apple tart was again pleasant - I prefer solid apple pies which are choked full of apples. The choices which were part of the seasonal lunch menu (without extra cost) were tora tartare and creamy rice with mandarin orange dessert, both of which I can only describe as so so. The grilled Wagyu steak was excellent, but a very thin slice, while the scallop and prawn were well, scallop and prawn, though I liked the light smoked potato. However, the cost at 80++ I guess is reasonable though we certainly did not leave the restaurant "super full" as claimed by another reviewer.More
Had set lunch at S$80++. Really very poor compared to other similar fine dining restaurants where set lunch menus average around S$50 (Garibaldi next door is great at S$48). We were expecting something exceptional from a Michelin starred restaurant and paying a premium. Super small...portions. The main was meant to be a wagyu steak which weighed no more than 50 grams which was tough and insipid looking not having been seared.. Desert was a spoon of rice pudding with two mandarin slices. Sorry but the whole experience was really pathetic and left us feeling cheated. Will never go back again.More
