If you are searching for a gastronomic experience, this is the last place to go... I don't know if this restaurant had a reputation previously or if it became recently poor, but it was just deceptive on many points. The quality of ingredients is less...than average: a tasteless foie gras, something supposed to be wagyu but worst than a western stall in a hawker centre, an ice cream that is not better than a Haagen Dazs... And the cooking skills are low level: the two first dishes had just a taste of smoked bacon covering everything, the supposed medium rare steak was overcooked, and the dessert was terrible (a scoop of ice cream with watery whipped cream, last time I had this kind was in awful touristic place). To match with all this, the room had no daylight, purple LEDs that give the food a strange aspect, and a dusty decor looking like a cheap copy of a trendy Parisian place. All of this for an overpriced bill... I came there thanks to someone advising me, and I have now some doubts regarding his level of expectation! My only advice is to avoid this place if you are a food lover or travelled a bit in your life.More

We enjoyed the Sole Meuniere cooked to buttery perfection with capers and celeriac mousseline but the (not crispy and rather oily) potato crisps, single mushroom, tiny salad with edamame and chopped tomato and Tempura style onion were rather disjointed additions to this main dish. Was...it supposed to be a deconstructed dish we mused. My guest wanted the Rack of Lamb offered as one of the 3 Mains on the Seasonal Lunch menu but was told flatly by the lady manager at 1230pm that it was " sold out ". The bread (tiny baguettes) were fresh and hot out of the oven which were served with a generous slab of premium butter and we could not resist a 2nd serving. The cold starter of Melon and fresh Mozzarella was really nice and refreshing. Sweet and juicy Hokkaido (? ) Melon with a good chunk of moist cheesey goodness. However, the warm starter of the Raviolo of King Crab with its seafood gravy was underwhelming ......we could not tell if the crab was fresh or frozen due to the pairing of the Seafood sauce which didnt complement it....OK, it was Sauce l'Americaine for you purists but really it was just Fishy Tasting Orange Coloured Cream Sauce. I think just a clear shellfish broth would have enhanced the potential sweetness of Monsieur Königskrabbe. Dessert was alright ....a wobbly creamy Strawberry Moulded Flan with not even a sliver of fruit garnish but some mint...so it was a Bavaroise that was OK but for a $80++ set we expected a little more effort or substance. Service cannot be faulted but it was not warm. The first impression was not great as when I entered the restaurant, the suited lady manager at the door was frowning throughout a protracted phone call. No smile, no hand gesture to indicate "hang on I will attend to you soon"....it must have been an unpleasant call which she ended by saying grimly "No, I have to seat you at two tables". When she asked for my name, I began by saying that my guest had already arrived and then proceeded to tell her my name. In a slightly displeased tone, she told me that she had to ask me my name to bring me to the table. Yes, of course but I had the impression I had been put in my place. She wore the frown constantly during the taking of our order. Bad day? The feeling we got from the wait staff was one of mechanical efficiency and a touch of weariness? There was no effort to engage with us or with any of the diners seated in our area. The only bright spark was this lovely server called Eileen who chatted to us at the end of the meal even though she had not been assigned our table - and she was the only one whose eyes smiled when she spoke through the mask. All in, good quality ingredients, a couple high points but food were served in small portions. We would not be going back in a hurry to spend about a hundred bucks after taxes for a non-occasion lunch. There are better value options around and warmer service elsewhere.More

Fine dining experience was pleasant. Food was nice. Service was attentive and prompt. Only thing was a little noisy in the background. Otherwise recommended to go there.

Food served was mediocre and old fashioned. Clearly overpriced for the experience offered. The dining room was so quiet we could hear conversations at each table. Chef needs to upgrade and bring himself up to date on food presentation and techniques.

Gunther's was an experience to remember from the ambiance to the food to the customer service. I liked that the couples were in a separate room from large groups. The freshly baked bread was delicious. The cold veloute was surprisingly delicious. The grilled calamari was...exquisite. My only complaint was that I wanted more. The cheese plate was very sparse given that we paid a supplement. Definitely a special occasion place.More

A restaurant with almost everything- beautiful decor, superb service and amazing food! These are our favorite dishes - cold angel hair pasta with truffle sauce and caviar and braised scallop in the shell with garlic herb butter. We would have given a 5-star rating but...we were disappointed when we ordered the stuffed morel mushrooms but it was sold out so we had to order a platter of ham and a platter of salami - which weren’t that great. Then we ordered the grilled sumi squid which we were told was also finished. But the scallops were outstanding. The grilled entrecôte and pork main dishes were good but not the best we had tasted, so we didn’t think they warrant the high prices they charge at this restaurant.More

Again, the service was warm and friendly, especially by the senior male staff, who has been there many years. We enjoyed the foie gras, but thought it could have been seared longer, while the beef was very tasty. My wife thought it to be a...little hard, but we enjoyed the sides like sweet corn too. The apple pie was not worth the extra money paid, she felt, as it was like the deep fried pancake you can find at Din Tai Fung, and was slightly on the dry, hard and oily side. The rum and raisin ice cream, while good, did not really jell with the apple pie.More

The Restaurant Week menu was good but slightly underwhelming for an institution like Gunther's. The foie gras was perfectly done, and the wagyu beef was tasty. But the sides were strange and sad-looking, and the main portion was less than expected. Dessert was good, especially...the apple tart. But the ambience was poor. I'm not sure how Gunther's managed to renovate and make the interior look worse. Looks like, according to my dining companion, a mix between "a teenager's room and a fine dining restaurant". The acoustics aren't great so you can hear your fellow diners quite clearly, which I really disliked. There was a man in a corner blowing his nose loudly and constantly. While this was not the restaurant's fault, the acoustics certainly did not help to diminish this noise.More

Came here for my mother ‘s birthday. The service was great. They do offer free corkage so do check if you Want to bring your own wine . We ordered the 4 course degustation menu, special call out was the cold pasta, it’s was the...right texture infused with truffle oil and topped with caviar. Quite the Noodle heaven experience! The team prepare a birthday desert for my mother which is very much appreciated.More
