About
Shashlik’s Russo-Hainanese heritage was born from the legendary Troika Restaurant in 1963, where Hainanese chefs first interpreted the timeless recipes of Russian Chef, Mamochka Liber. When Troika’s golden era ended in January 1986, nine former employees pooled their life savings together and opened Shashlik Restaurant in April 1986, an ode to their Russo-Hainanese culinary heritage. Their passion for food and genuine appreciation for every diner quickly established the Shashlik Ah Kors as stalwarts on the local dining scene. With a rich 30 years heritage, the restaurant has been serving generations of loyal diners from all over the world.

Wife and I were in the Orchard Road area so we decided to visit Shashlik as we had not been there for quite a few years. We were a little early (5.45pm) for their dinner operations but the staff didn’t let us wait for long...and we got a table fairly quickly. The restaurant had been renovated, there are younger wait staff, friendly and attentive. We ordered a grilled chicken steak and honey glazed iberico pork chop. I like the chicken chop, the skin was crispy and meat tender. The pork chop was a little tough. We had coffee and banana ice cream for dessert. Overall it was a delightful enjoyable dinner.More

Steaks are well cooked and food are served promptly. Staff is friendly and went the extra mile to offer to cut the birthday cake for us, even when we did not specifically requested for it. The old uncle who prepares Irish coffee is very professional...and watching him preparing the coffee adds on to the wonderfulness of our dinner.More

The restaurant owners are hands-on and attentive. Their must try dishes include Borsch soup, Shashlick of Beef (medium rare is best), Baked Alaska (take a video!). Recommended also to try their Blinis Caviar (on a pancake). On weekends, do make a table reservation beforehand as...it can be popular with families. Always a pleasure dining here. Been dining with them for family celebrations.More

Have not been to the restaurant for awhile but the ambience, service and everything were just as great. Had the borsch soup and shared a steak. The coffee was so good with the evaporated milk. (don't know why other restaurants serve with creamer that sucks).

As usual, the food and service have never made us disappointed, like the cozy atmosphere too. However, noticed prices went up 😓

I have been eating at Shashlik since day 1, 30 years ago and from time to time I have recommended network or invite my overseas guest to dine in. It was my 1st trip after covid19 open, and it was a birthday dining. Due to...the quality level has been consistence and its ambient that is good for family gathering, I continue to visit. Food price though is not average but that's what it is, especially today. The 3 different types of soup we ordered was good, so is the steak. Escargot as usual, pricey but tasty. However, the port rip wasn't to our liking as it was a bit dry and the portion at 6 bone is a little too much. If it is 5 and lower price, will be nicer. Shashlik of lamp and beef was great. Egg millionaire, not worth the price @ $18 and nothing that special. Finally, Sticky Date Pudding @ $16.0 was so-so only and not worth its value, though it could be specially made in house that is why it cost so much. Overall, we enjoyed the occasion, the staff (I think she is from China) that serve us well, esp on dishes that we were not familiar with. Sometimes in the future I will be back again.More

Celebrated my wedding anniversary with our children and really enjoyed the Shashlik of Beef which was tender and flavorful. I would also recommend the Upside Down Crab for starters, and Borshch Soup is a must. Other dishes we had were the Argentine Sirloin Steak and...New Zealand Tenderloin. And we finished our celebration with the Baked Alaska. Kids love it. All that time, we were attended to be a very sincere and attentive crew. These people really know how to manage my children, and brought out the smiles when we took photographs. I would definitely come back again. Thank you for the good time.More

I first visited the restaurant in the 70's as a teenager with my father and has been returning religiously several times each year for vary happy occasions. In my most recent visit I found the restaurant to have been spruced up; the atmosphere was warm,...elegant and welcoming. There were all but one old staff whom I recognised and the rest of the younger staff were as professional and had great knowledge of the menu. The food was absolutely delicious as always! It has been the same way that it has tasted for the last 50 years and I know this is no mean feat for the high consistency given the passage of time and succession. My favourite borshch had just the right balance of umami and astringency. The shashlik of beef was tender and flavourful. We also had the Sole Meuniere which we are so glad to have pre-ordered. The fish has been a childhood favourite which has been a classic dish at the restaurant, among their famous Borshch, Shashlik and Baked Alaska. Visiting Shashlik has always been memorable and a treat to me and my family. I wish the restaurant will continue to open for generations to come.More

We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children. Have been visiting this restaurant since DBS Tower's day and been a frequent visitor at FE Shopping Centre as well. I was very disappointment with the Borsch soup and also the beef shashlik during my...last visit on 4.3.23. The soup was watered-down and the beef lost it's original taste. Sad that the standard have dropped so much.More

I booked the place for a birthday celebration and I did specifically mentioned it’s for Ms Jo Birthday and we were expecting to have a written word on something which I don’t expect a free cake or whatever, which we ordered a Alaska Cake so...as they could write on it. The Alaska came and nothing!!! And we thought it could be a separate thing which we hinted for bill which the usual practice that they will wheel out a surprise… shocking part… nothing! We are not expecting a big flare, just a simple candle and blow off that’s all. But it ended with a disappointing day I must say.More
