Hyatt in general, still operating like they were in the 80s in that all their food and beverage outlets still forbids customers who wore hats or caps. I was one who was asked to take off my headwear on many occasions and in different Hyatt hotels in Hong Kong and in Singapore, which spoilt my day on those occasions. I was very upset then and had a number of those occasions questioning the floor managers/watiresses at the F&B outlets on why then the women mainly the Japanese tourists were allowed to wear their hats. In this 21st century and for a Western hotel like Hyatt, it seems somehow they have not evolved with the times or they have a bias against men wearing cabs or hats. Casual wear is the norm nowadays and afterall, they forgot that they are offering and serving food and beverages, and not to judge and discipline their seated customers on what they can or cannot wear especially a causal cap. It's outright discrimination. Even my Amercian friends who were with me at the time, couldn't believe it and in fact told the manager to explain what is so offensive about wearing the hat or cap that Hyatt has to have such a silly policy. My Amercian friends also asked which past century did the Hyatt management came from? Well, luckily today, we are spoilt for choice of many F&B outlets throughout Singapore. Perhaps, the new top management of Hyatt can change their mindset and stopped this bias policy. The same calls to all other snobbish hotels and F&B outlets to do the same. Casual wear is the norm and a cap or hat is not offensive unless they carried offensive or undesired slogans or images. Same with sloppily dressed and over-exposed. Otherwise, no public F&B outlets including hotels should be allowed to impose such a ban.
