One of the most wonderful meals we have eaten in a lovely ambient environment. Definitely on my list whenever I visit Singapore again.

Very disappointing meal - felt we were rushed along and out. Starters were quite nice - Coronation Chicken and Satay, but mains of Dry Laksa and Nasi Goreng were both stodgy and gluggy. Drinks service was basic - frothy beer and sparkling. The decor was...stunning, but the food not good.More

My mom & I were visiting the museum on a whim and we never expected that we would be able to get a table at The National Kitchen, but we took our chances and Rowel, their host, was courteous enough to make it happen. To...be honest, he was one of the kindest and most gracious hosts we’ve come across in our travels and I’m glad we took a chance because the Afternoon Tea set was superb! Our favorite part was the Dry Laksa and also the Pulot Hitam with Coconut Ice Cream - so good I forgot my name! Server Elaine was also amazing and answered all our questions and made us feel so welcome. I also noticed that the staff help each other out, which makes the operations run so smoothly. For me, the food is spectacular, but the staff make this place special. Would definitely visit again!More

We had the most incredible dinner at the National Kitchen. A month later we are still talking about it. First- we’d like to thank the entire staff. Everyone was so nice and friendly. And a huge thank you to Then Li Chin. She really went...above and beyond throughout our dinner and made it such a memorable and special meal. You are amazing. Thank you!! The food- so delicious and unique. We live in Los Angeles and never tasted food like this before. The Dry Laksa and the Garam Assam fish were out of this world. We also tried the Sayor Lodeh, Ngoh Hiang and the Chicken Satay. Yes- we ordered a bit too much food but I’m glad we did so that we could try a little bit of everything. Every bite was a burst of flavor. The decor is just beautiful. The restaurant is located inside the National Gallery which makes the meal a little extra special. For the price, quality of food and ambiance you really can’t beat it. We have already recommended National Kitchen to a friend going to Singapore and will definitely return the next time we visit. When you’re in Singapore you have to have Peranakan food- and this is place to do so.More

We were treated to an excellent lunch here by my cousin. Can’t fault anything. Delicious food, great service, and interesting location, though my aunt (we are a Nyonya family), on seeing the photos, remarked that it’s not authentic to have a prawn on top of...kueh pie tee ;-) Make sure you use the correct entrance our you’ll be wandering the gallery complex trying to find the restaurant.More

On the second floor of the National Gallery we found the restaurant Violet Oon. Not so big, the look is like a bistro in Paris. But the Singaporian Food there is really good. A delicious dry Laksa and also the appetizers were so good! All...a little bit spicy..for European (maybe you ask for the spiceness before you order)More

This restaurant certainly has everything going for it: location within the National Gallery, amazing decor, relatively small (around 50 seats) which adds to the intimate feel, impeccable & attentive service & excellent Paranakan style food. Couldn’t really fault our dining experience, hence the 5 stars.

The National Gallery outlet was cramped and small. Very noisy as it’s a small space. I was expecting it to be more cosy given the location. Would recommend the jewel outlet to have your family meal or host friends.

The food was excellent - melt in the mouth Beef Rendang, perfectly executed Cod in Creamy Laksa Sauce, wonderful flavors in the Coronation Chicken. The ambience is perfect with tables not too close together in a gorgeous setting. All topped off by the best customer...service from Chen Li Chin. Thank you for a truly memorable evening at prices that don’t break the bank.More

The Ayam Pong Tay is terrible @National Gallery Singapore, the chicken very hard and not fresh! However, their BEEF RENDANG is not bad. Left disappointed. The space there is very cramped as compare to the one at Jewel.

We enjoyed every dish we ordered and the flavor is authentic, The presentation is beautiful too. Total dining space is rather small but the ambience was great within the National Gallery. Staff were friendly and attentive. The only thing I did not like was the...dining time was limited to 1.5 hour and we were rushed to leave. I was not aware of that when I made the reservation.More

It's a fabulous place to host my overseas friends. The food was so delicious and authentic, the deco of the restaurant was so peranakan and classy, and to top it all up, service was so great! Beef rendang, satay, kueh pie tee, buah kaluk ayam,...tauhu goreng and dessert (coconut delights) are highly recommended. It is a 10/10 and I will be back!More

Excellent Peranakan food. Cozy environment and suitable for both formal and informal occasion. This place is always packed. Reservation is required. They have other outlet but was told it isn't that popular.
