Great staff that really care about the clients. The food is very good and it is local kitchen. Prices are quite reasonable.

My partner and I came for our wedding anniversary. It's a luxurious and cosy setting. The service from the staff was excellent. Sandy, our waitress, was very patient and kind in taking us through the menu and providing recommendations based on our preferences. Wilson, one...of the staff, surprised us with a dessert with a candle and also helped us take and print out a photo of us. It was a memorable experience with amazing peranakan food. 100% recommend this place.More

We enjoyed the pretty dining room. The restaurant is on the small side. The service was just OK. Not much focus on just customer relations. Had to ask for wine to be refilled. The food was very good but the dishes we ordered were quite...spicy and it made it hard to really taste the flavorMore

It was a wonderful lunch experience! The service is amazing and we had an unforgettable celebration! My husband and I decided to try out Violet Oon at National Gallery after trying out their outlet at Jewel few months back. We were not disappointed with the...amazing views, ambiance and wonderful food.. we love the ngo hiang and dates cake with vanilla ice cream! The meat of the beef rendang is really soft and salavating. We will surely be back! Special thanks to Rajoo who looks after us and really gave an excellent service. He even explained to us the ingredients of our food really amazing experience. Thankyou Violet Oon!More

We had the Singapore afternoon tea set - for someone with a savoury tooth and a lover of Asian spice, this was a winner!!!!! As with any compilation of foods when you don’t get to choose, there were hits and misses of course, but the...best part was just the presence of great spice! The dry laksa was something we hadn’t had before - a signature dish we understand - VERY nice! As to the sweet items, the Chendol pudding was absolutely fantastic. However, unlike all the tasty and very nicely presented savoury items, the rest of the sweet items felt a bit like they were ‘fillers’ on the stand just because they ‘should’ be there. Jelly cubes and chocolate cake aren’t that original!  As to the restaurant itself, it felt a bit dishevelled. We’d expected it to be a bit of a ‘haven’, a calm place to go when visiting the Gallery, but it was loud, cramped and tables were slow to be cleared/reset. When we arrived they had to scramble to clear/set a table for us which took a while, even though we had a booking and had arrived a few minutes after and not before our booking time. Basically, despite it’s interior appearance and the perception you get from the website, it was a more casual affair than we’d anticipated.More

We recently ate at the National Kitchen on our honeymoon. The food was incredible as was our waiter, Raju. He was able to cater to our tastes and made sure the evening was perfect! I had given the restaurant a head sup that this would...be our honeymoon dinner and they went above and beyond to make it special for us. Would definitely recommend if in Singapore!More

This is the second time we’ve had lunch here. It’s a wonderful restaurant with delicious Singaporean delights. It was really nice to celebrate my mum’s birthday here. Lichin was extremely welcoming and friendly. 👏 👏 👏

The restaurant is beautiful but the location frankly is a pain to get to. There are no easy directions provided by the restaurant on their website - just 'city hall entrance' and then inside the building it was really hard to find. It was a...full house when we visited with five people and because there were no empty seats it was loud and claustrophobic. i felt as if our table was too close to the table next to us. The staff were not really very attentive. They didn't do anything to set the tone of the background or tell us much about the menu and why the dishes were special etc. The food was nice enough - beef cheek was a highlight and the sticky date pudding - but the overall ambience was really lacking and I felt disappointed that on my single evening in Singapore this was the restaurant I chose which is a shame.More

The beef rendang was the best I've had so far, a must try. The ngoh hiong came in a big portion and tasted better than those found in wuxiang (五香) stalls all around the island. Lastly, the chap chye (mixed veggie) was a class of...its own, truly peranakan. Many expatriates and tourists were seen enjoying the dishes in the restaurant. Thumbs up for a Singaporean restaurateur who is able to showcase local dishes on par with international standard.More
