LGBTQ (esp transgendered) Visitors to Singapore seeking mid priced vegan fare centrally located would best stay clear of this one. Although it may appear to tick all the 'right' boxes for location and choice of food, there may be other more important factors to the...dining experience that will mar (and even traumatise) you, as it did my spouse and me. Factors like basic human respect. The dignity of the customer. These things are nothing to NomVNom, neither to the waiting staff, nor to management, as demonstrated by my experience of them. When staff repeatedly abused a transwoman patron, me, there was NO manager present to report this to. It seems very often, in any of their three outlets, the staff is left to their own devices. The manager, we were told, was -points to one woman- this one, who then denied being the manager, then another was cited as the manager, but no, really no manager, no supervisor nothing...staff kept lying and lying. It was my birthday dinner with my spouse, the love of my life. I was in tears. (At a later date, over the text program, Whatsapp, Ryzal, regional PR Manager offered to be present the next time we went to their benighted shop, after offering a meal in compensation for our extremely traumatic experience here being recounted, which when asked about, along with wanting to know what kind of staff awareness training would be given to make sure their people truly understand that well, trans people are people too, and deserve the same level of respect as everyone else, he promptly blocked us from the chat with no explanation whatsoever) We believe this level of service is unconscionable. We did nothing to deserve this level of abuse. We cannot review the restaurant food in light of this. Food , after this level of cavalier abuse is simply...irelevant To date, no one from the restaurant nor anyone being told of this incident demonstrated any concern, from my local community nor from the vegan community. This is cogent, highly relevant, to the traveller visiting Singapore, obviously. If you are a trans person, or even just an ally, please consider taking your business to the many wonderful tolerant vegan restaurants centrally located in Singapore e.g. all the many wonderful shops in the Fortune Centre shopping mall. We believe the trans and gay and straight and cis people of this world deserve a safe and pleasant life and well, a good Birthday dinner free of abusive staff and a deceitful management covering up for them.More
