I ate so much, and thought I would never touch sashimi again after the meal. But after just a few hours, I was surprisingly craving for more. Their tempura prawn roll sushi delicious, although quite small (4 pieces). But since it was an ala carte buffet, there's no stopping you from ordering more freshly made tempura rolls again. :D
Their shisamo tempura was also huge, and full of umami eggs! Usually shisamo could be finished in 1 or 2 bites. But Kushi's shisamo needed 4-5 mouthfuls!
Their other cooked food were ok (teriyaki chicken, grilled ribeye, agedashi tofu, beef shabu shabu soup), but then again, you go to a sashimi/sushi restaurant to eat their sashimi and sushi mah.
The service staff were attentive and prompt to customer's calling, refilling drinks, and clearing the tables.
I'll be back for more sashimi for sure! :)
Just wished their ambiance and lighting was a bit brighter.

Had dinner at Kushi last Friday evening with a couple of friends. The place was quite full. Quality of food was generally of average standard but presentation was very poor and unappetizing. Ditto the ambiance or lack of any! The service was good considering it was fairly crowded and our orders were served fairly quickly. Overall disappointing as we had expected better based on their reviews. I guess you get what you pay for so if its price and quantity, not quality, that you are looking for than it should be fine.

Chance upon this restaurant for Japanese buffet. Surprisingly the food they served were quite decent. The classic buffet came with a one time order of the beef & bbq squid. Both were very yummy. The rest of the food were decent. Sashimi were fresh too.

Located off a row of old shophouses along Macpherson Road, this eatery is a hidden gem in offering value for money Japanese ala carte buffet. Service is attentive and food is served quickly in generous portion. The classic buffet has an extensive menu to choose your items from and the food taste absolutely fresh! Certainly will revisit again!

they were very stingy on the sashimi and give you only one slice per kind per person. Even for scallop it's only one slice of a huge scallop.
Their service was also slow and selection not his small. the price is also very high. super not worth with the time limit of an hour, last order is an hour from your starting time no matter if you are late or early.
Super not worth, do not recommend at all.

Generally, my favorite hang out has been exposed by Mothership recently thus the over booking.
By chance my friend recommended Kushi Japanese Dining thus i took a leap of fate.
Generally variety of food, photo ambiance is the selling point of this restaurant. Very down to earth.
If i am must make a suggestion, may i suggest the shabu shabu soup base to change for suki-yaki.
Shop owner probably engage customer more for feedback.

I used to follow Kushi since the days they were at the Ibis hotel at Macpherson. The premium selection then was excellent along with generous portions which reflected the chef's passion and pride in delivering quality food and service.
However, ever since moving to the current location which is my second visit, I suspect it is no longer the same owner because all the wonderful points I mentioned above are completely gone. Food quality is significantly inferior, portions are miserable hence visually unappetizing. In fact, my wife and I ended our meal abruptly after consuming the "fresh" oysters which tasted rather queer. My wife had to throw up moments after exiting the restaurant. It is unfortunate that I will have to conclude that it was to be the last time I will ever dine there again.

The sashimi was fresh and the sushi was well made.
The beef finger in the lunch menu is really one of the highlights of the meal.
Staff were very friendly and the ordering system is very spot on using ipad to send order to kitchen.
Ambiance was also very nice.
Just take note of some of the difference between lunch and dinner menu. They do have premium menu, which looks very impressive too!

Wasn’t a cheap buffet to begin with, we barely ate 30% of what we paid for because food was served extremely slow, and most of what we ordered were missed out. The reason given was because ‘maybe my was served to the wrong table’
We also had to ask a million times for them to check on our orders because it takes like 30mins for them to serve a few small dishes out.
One of the guy who seems to be the management, later on started to avoid eye contact with us and also when we wanted to place order he would say that he would come back with the iPad to take our order but he never did
There was a big group in the same evening and it seems all the attention was on that group. If that’s the case then mayeb they shouldn’t have accepted other reservations and we would have easily had a 100 times more enjoyable meal and service elsewhere.
Will definitely not return again.

We totally enjoyed the food and had a wonderful time. Everything was served on little pretty plates so that we could try a number of things without struggling to finish them. It was easy to order repeats of anything that we particularly liked. There's a good variety in the menu.

While quality of the sashimi remains just as fresh and good as before, the service is very poor! They had now time limit (11:30am to 1pm or 1:00pm to 2:30pm) for the buffet but it was not made know to us when we arrived at about 11:45am. Nor was it shown in their menus. We only know when I ask the waitress who approached us at 12:30pm and ask us if we have any last order. Worse is that food takes very long to be served and some orders were even missed. We had less than 1.5 hours to eat and a lot of it were spend waiting for the food to be served! Will never patronise them again!

this used to be one of our fav go to place with my group of friends. we used to travel down to their old venue eventhough it is out of place and i had also brought many other friends and family there. My friends who had left Singapore and visiting after 3 yrs were keen to eat here as we all had good memories at Kushi. Imagine our disappointment when service is almost non existent. the place was not even full albeit there was 2 big groups that the male server in black polo were giving his full attention to, asking for 5 stars reviews.
i guess other patrons doesn’t matter and it is ok to get 10 x 1 stars for that 15 x 5 stars. Even if we are not important, at least act apologetic or when you are asking them for 5 stars, dont be too loud so 1 stars customers will not feel so offended.
We placed an order 3 times. We received 40% of our orders. We spoke to that guy who seems to be in charge (since he was asking those groups for 5 stars) - Initially he was apologetic but when we approached him for the 2nd time, he said he will check and come back to us but he nv did and just avoided eye contact after. the female staff claimed all our orders had been served, and when i named the dishes that did not arrived, she said they were too busy and maybe it was served to other tables.
If you wish to expand your business, i believed you would have anticipated you will have a bigger crowd, esp when most of the people made reservations and it was a friday night. All your staffs should know which table is which, in order to serve correctly. You seems to have no problem telling which table we were from when we were paying the bills.
Horrible service, slow service, no service recovery when u know u are lacking service, management only favor the customers who will spend more. To think that i mentioned the word ‘service’ 4 times when there are none.

Upon arrival with booking confirmed in Chope, first thing from staff was “you didnt answer your phone to confirm reservations” and she repeated it like 4 times then finally decided to show us to the table.
Food was just so so… the Oyster was not served on a cold plate and it arrived room temperature which makes it taste horrid. The chicken skin was so hard that it flew all over in an attempt to get it off the stick.
Other food were meh, for a premium price, its not worth the price tag.

First time I’m leaving a review in the middle of a meal.
Won’t recommend the buffet at all, have to get the staff in order to order the food. Some of my food didn’t come at all, food serve takes up to 30 mins so you might want to order more right from the staff.
Wanted to order a second round, the staff acknowledged me but didn’t come at all - waited 10 mins. Took them 1 hour into dinner for my first round of food to be served, and I didn’t order a lot either.
The guy staff is very friendly but shop seems terribly understaffed and not systematic at all. Food isn’t worth the price if you talk about quality. Quantity is a problem too due to the speed.
Asked 2 staff to refill hot tea, 20 mins later nothing happened. Have to walk to their counter to ask for hot water.

Tonight was the second time my wife and I dined here, with each time being a really enjoyable experience! This “all-you-can-eat” Japanese buffet is really worth it especially when you consider the quality (and quantity). Favourites for me include the sashimi, makis, shabu shabu, and interestingly the century egg tofu! All the staff are really helpful and patient with the orders too. Shoutout to the boss called Spoon for being very warm and welcoming, it makes all the difference. Be sure to book your reservation especially on the weekends when it gets packed. We hope to be back again soon. Thank you, Kushi! 🙏🏻
