This old place is really charming and decorated with religious icons. It offers simple traditional dishes well prepared and copious. The ice creams are excellent. Better go early because the place fills up rapidly with locals.

I used to love this place. This coffee shop and restaurant was one of my family's favorite since my grandpa. I always used to go there when i were at historical part of Quito but a couple of weeks ago i was really surprised. When I arrived no one gives me the menu or other kind of service. Finally after... excellent location right in Old town Quito; wonderful flavour, fair prices, big portions; open mainly for lunch; locals start visiting around 1pm, so try to avoid that. The website said open till 2245 but we went for dinner and it was closed. Maybe depends on time of year...so we had to return at lunch. I noticed other tables had reservations.... More

Although this place did not seem to offer the cheap almuerzos like other places nearby, it has delicious traditional food. The service was fantastic with the waiter running back and forth in a rush to please everyone. Very affordable and massive portions to keep you going all day!

If you've been around since 1858 then your reputation is likely pretty solid, but the Lonely Planet book got it right in naming this place as a top choice for visitors. It's an easy walk from the main square and atmospheric. You can get the coffee or the ice cream or the baked goods, but it shines brightest as a... More

There's a lot of history in this quaint cafe and nothing about it disappointed. We stopped in for coffee and a pastry and both were spectacular. It's a great place to stop in if you want a break from wandering around Old Town.

Heladería San Agustin is a great place to visit in the downtown area. Food id great and abundant. Here's my cons/pros list Cons - Sometimes it can be very crowded - Some waitress forget about your order so you have to keep an eye on them - Is a relatively small place Pros - Portions are generous (you can easily... This place has been around since 1858 apparently, but is still going strong. Very simple, unpretentious decor, but a great variety of local staple dishes (ceviches, locro, churrasco etc.) and pastries (humitas, empanadas, quesadillas etc), all at very reasonable prices. Service is quick and courteous. Quite small, and very popular, so at peak times you may have to wait, but... More

I absolutely love this place. Friendly ambiance, good meals, lively colonial art pieces on display and great for a tight budget. What is not to love from this place? My favorites: the breaded sirloin, and the milk artisanal ice cream of "paila".

One of the best meals that we enjoyed while in Quito was at San Agustin. We ordered up a place of the traditional goat stew, seco de chivo-- and the sauce and meat were so good that I'm salivating now just thinking about it. It's delicious and not expensive-- and there's enough here that you might be able to split... More
