We have had Cui on previous trips to Quito and Cuenca. Map direction to Tres Estrellas incorrect on google maps etc, but we tracked it down towards the end of Calle Larga closer to Pumapungo. We found it stopped in at 645pm, vacant and asked if they had Cui tonight...$20 down payment and 1 hour later we returned for our... More

We went there because I wanted to try Cuy (guinea pig) that is a popular Ecuadorian food. I thought it was very little meat and lots of grease. The service was very good and the decoration of the restaurant is interesting. I noticed that most of the clients when we ate there were richer Ecuadorians, although I did not thing... More

After reading reviews of this place we decided to try coy here. It was surprisingly delicious. The skin is crispy and the meat is tender. Not fatty or gamey. The meal came with potatoes and corn. Plenty for 2. Reasonably priced.

To really "taste" Ecuador, the local favorite is Cuy; Tres Estrellas has the best atmosphere, and the traditionally eaten Cuy is delicious. The plate is big enough to share. The hosts are always smiling. :)

When in southern Ecuador, follow the locals and savor succulent roasted guinea pigs (cuy) at Tres Estrellas. If cuy does not sound appealing to you but someone in your party is keen to try it, do not worry. This restaurant has an extensive menu and is known for roasting meats of all kind. My son (he is the one keen... More

Great service and delicious traditional food especially cuy! You do need to order cuy one hour ahead, but it is fun watching it cook rotisserie style. The restaurant itself is decorated with antiques like singer sewing machines, old radios, cameras, and vintage tools. A neat place to go. Need decent Spanish to order and know what you are getting! GREAT... More

The food is excellent, the restaurant looks and feels the part. Even appreciating that two of us are typically English with an arrogant lack of understanding foreign languages we were with a bi lingual Spanish person, but it didn't help! We were introduced to a waiter who could translate for us. Such as this is Beef in a sauce, this... More

We arrived around noon and we had to wait for 1h to get a roasted cuy. Crispy skin and flavorful meat. The side dishes were mediocre. We also had a typical soup while we waited for the cuy, locro de papas. Very tasty and fulfilling.

These people take the time to give you more of an experience rather than just a dinner. They let us see the cuys (guinea pigs) roasting in a huge open kitchen setting. Very interesting and quite delicious when it's done! If you want to try cut this is the place :-)
