We had a fantastic meal here. The trilogy of meat and fish were stunning and well worth splashing out on a more expensive meal. Good wine, a cheese platter and a nice atmosphere all give lasting memories from this great restaurant.

We travelled to Arequipa 2 and a half years ago and visited Zig Zag and really enjoyed the meal. We returned today and our memories served us correctly! The meal and service was great - definitely recommend if you are travelling to Arequipa. Love from Australia

On our last night in Peru two weeks ago we had dinner at Zig Zag. So glad we did. We enjoyed the atmostphere and the service was top notch. The food was excellent. I would highly recommend eating here.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service! We had the menu option and all our four courses were very delicious. My favorite was the main course with Alpaca meat on a hot stone served with homemade sauces. The staff is very professional, attentive and friendly. They fulfill your wishes with a smile. Most of them speak multiple languages (one even spoke... More

Book ahead!! My friend and I decided to treat ourselves after a week in Arequipa trekking. Despite being made to feel like the happy couple with our candlelit table in the corner the atmosphere was lovely. The food was out of this world - three mini steaks (alpaca pork and beef) served sizzling on a hot volcanic slab. The price... More

Zig zag has a great atmostphere and very attentive waiters. Our table wasn't ready at the time of reservation so our group got a round of pisco sours on the house while waiting. The food was simply fantastic. You have a variety of meats (and crawfish :) to chose from that you get to fry yourself on a volcano-stone grill.... More

Just visited this restaurant and it was an amazing restaurant. I speak little English but the waiter helped us understand what to order. The food was beautifully cooked with interesting tableware. Good quality food and good portion sides. We had a number of sauces with our dish, which our waiter explained each one. Would recommend to visit this restaurant if... More

This restaurant is located within the old town centre of Arequipa, just off the main road. It is across the street from the San Francisco Church. The interior is very welcoming and appealing. Stone walls, curved staircase....an excellent setting. Our server was friendly and efficient throughout, and spoke English quite well. We tried out our Spanish, to which she showed... More

Lovely, small restaurant with a great view of San Francisco and a staircase designed by Eiffel himself. We tried the alpaca tonnato and the alpandino cheese plate appetizer, both were excellent. I definitely recommend the anticuchos on the volcanic rock. The service is wonderful too!

Eating at Zig Zag was a wonderful experience. The food was very tasty and the price was reasonable for the quality of the food. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating. Gotta eat here!

Description
The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish. This culinary concept was generated specially by the restaurant's proprietor and Chef, Michel Hediger from Switzerland. During the course of many years in Arequipa, Peru, he has developed an original gastronomic proposal which enables one to savour different kinds of food prepared in an exclusive, healthy and very natural style, so that the restaurant's customers might compare and enjoy the country's different flavours. Located in the Historic Centre of Arequipa, opposite the lovely Plaza San Francisco, the Zig Zag Restaurant, with its impressive cast iron staircase designed by the famous French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, is a unique place to enjoy a gastronomic evening with a difference.
