Sat for counter service and all was going. Got the wine and the ham and cheese plate in a short amount of time and placed an order for lomo con sangre. Waited for 45 minutes and saw lots of lomo leave the grill but not ours. Complained and the grill cook yelled at us that we have time - he... More

I oredered their Cesar Salad. When the waiter comes with the food, it turns out to be lettuce with tomatoes, olives, chicken and mayo (yes, mayo) insted of the classic Cesar sauce. I complained and they blamed it on me for not stating that I wanted something different. I mean...we were a group of over 10 people, to blame it... More

What a treat. This place is a favorite of our local friends and we can see why. It is fun and provides an excellent meal. Our steaks were superb and cooked exactly as ordered. Rather large portions necessitating a doggy bag. Friendly service. Fun setting. Bistro outdoors. The Tannant wine was a great complement to our meal. Restaurant was very... More

After spending several days eating meat in Buenos Aires, I didn't think I'd find a better steak anywhere else in the world, but I did- at El Palenque ( which I think means "The Swordfish"). If you're coming off a cruise ship, walk about 200 yards outside of the gate of the shipyard. You'll get to a main drag. Cross... More

Very friendly but a couple of things to look out for. First is that I ordered specifically the fish cazuella, first because I prefer fish to marisco (shellfish) and second because the fish was £13 cheaper than the shellfish. So I had scored a double - until I was brought the shellfish version. I could have sent it back of... More

I took the free walking tour today and it ended at the puerto mercado. This is the real deal. I asked the waiter what his favorite steak was and ordered it. It came with fries and was delicious.

Located in the Mercado del Puerto which is visited mainly by tourists in the summer time. It was fun as the carnival is in full swing and you could hear the drums from everywhere. The place was busy but the waiters are very good and kept the orders coming. The entrecôte was excellent and the chorizos too. I was disappointed... More

As part of the Mercado del Porta experience, this restaurant is probably a highlight for every meat lover. Great steaks, amazing drinks and fresh side dishes. Very pricey( $US 50 per person is a good budget to run up and down the menus as you like). Very busy place. Don't expect personalized service, but efficient servers. Again, highly recommended.

Having lunch in Down town Monivideo's El Palenque is a real experience! The place is clean, stylish and crowded from noon. A lovely hangout for a mixture of natives, posh business people and tourists. Good food and wines. Do not skip the terrace. But having lunch inside at the bar (the inside of El Palengue is situaties in a part... More

In our grill, a big variety of courts, meats of calf meat, lamb, pork, kidney, sausages and trip are grilled daily. The fishes and seafood arrive directly from the port, so do the vegetables and fresh fruits from the garden. Although -we have to recognize it- our more important ingredient is you.
