This place is rated the best steak in the city and it was very good. It is a small place; we had to sit at the counter, looking outside at the line of customers. The steaks were tender and juicy, ala carte potatoes and fries were good. Service was slow, but it was crowded.

La Pulperia is overrated. It's ok, but nothing special. It is very cramped inside as other reviews mention. There are only stools inside, about 15, with long, bar like counters serving as tables in front of each bank of stools. The only tables were out on the sidewalk, and there only a few of those, and not an option if... More

This place was recommended by the local lady I was staying with. I'd had a very long tiring day & almost didn't go but I'm so glad I went! The meat was cooked Uruguayan style and the layout of the restaurant, with a seated area, and stalls and counters, near the cooking area, makes it ideal for both solo and... More

Simple place with a wonderful environment. Honest price and a very cold Zilertal beer! I've spent 42 usd in a dinner with my father.

Loved the asada steak, and the sausage. Perfectly cooked and seasoned! Service was top notch. Definitely arrive at the opening time, or expect to wait for a table as the tables were full prior to the restaurant actually opening :)

I have been to Uruguay about seven times to teach golf. La Pulperia is my favorite restaurant every trip. It just so happens to be up the street from my friends house, and I always make a point to eat one meal here. The owners are very nice, the Asado is the best. I always start my meal with some... La Pulperia is a very typical Uruguayan feel restaurant. Actually, it is more like causal food. Foods are good value and good taste. I like the most was sitting in the bar, facing the "parilla" (BBQ place) having a beer or wine, watching chief to cook. If you wanna to feel the real feeling of Uruguayan life, here is one... More

Seeing how the name of the restaurant is not on the outside, adds to the wonderful ambiance. It's an intimate place to enjoy Uruguay's famous asado! And let's not forget tour talk about how amazing every dish tastes! Bottom line, if you are in Montevideo and you do not go here, you are missing out big time.

Making this review on the magnificent "La Pulpería" is giving me some a hard time.. On one hand, I'd love to recommend this little spot to all the visitors so that I can feel even prouder of one of the most representative places of the "asado" culture. One the other hand, I should try to keep this little "pretty much... More

Excellent place, nice people, great meat. Must go place in Montevideo. Price is average for a restaurant of this kind. Just make sure to arrive early as capacity is always full.

Welcome to La Pulperia, a family business that already has more than 20 years offering a unique place to eat the traditional food of Uruguay. We are a small place but with very warm atmosphere, a spectacular food, and a friendly and attentive staff. We have a place to eat inside the premises and a few tables just outside for those who like to be outdoors. Our goal is that our customers leave satisfied in order to come back and tell their family and friends.
