We paid $300 USD for what was supposed to be a fabulous New Year's dinner--it was a disaster. They really don't know what they are doing and yet they are charging US prices (and insisted on our paying cash in US dollars). To wait over 2 hours for dinner to arrive once you have ordered is despicable. Really? Two hours... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local colleague who lives in Montevideo as one of the best steak restaurants in the city. We were not disappointed. The steaks were cooked precisely as requested and were delicious. The sides including a potato au gratin style cake were wonderful. The wine offering was broad and great and the bottle of Gimenez Mendez... More

On a business trip to Montevideo, I decided to go eat at La casa Violeta. It was recommended to me by the hotel. They have a good choice of meat and the quality of my entrecote was excellent as was my glass of red wine. However, the total ambiance did not meet the quality expectations set by the price in... I was there twice and each time it was a good experience. The food was exceptional, especially the rich salad bar stole my heart. The interior is very elegant, yet cozy and the service was just fantastic! Highly recommended!

Think from my experience, one of the best Restaurants near Montevideo, just a few kmts from the center by the sea. Is a familiar place run by them and vey well know , for local people , due their great food and treatment from the Team working there.

If you like the beef then you need to go there. There are a kind of good vibes there, I don't know, but I like to take lunch or dinner there every time I'm at Montevideo.

Like a true American I rolled into this place in jeans and a t-shirt! It's a little fancy (which the hotel failed to mention) so this was def inappropriate but they weren't too busy so they let it slide. That's good service. This was the best meal I had in Montevideo. I had the sole with almond cream sauce and... More
