Stopped in for a large Latte [$5] , nice to sit outside by the pool. Did'nt have anything to eat but was impressed with the lunch time food that was coming out, they also have a boutiqe hotel there as well.
We were surprised to find this place, in a backstreet, poolside and with views of the mountains behind. We had brekky here just once, waffles and a big breakfast, delicious! Service was friendly but quite slow considering it was quiet.
Their menu is lovely and the food is more than just delicious! We visited recently with my family who are quite fussy eaters and we all returned back before we left the island because the food was just that good! Friendliest staff and very bright...& clean. Would definitely recommend and I’ll definitely be back again one day.More
We visited in January and the weather permitted deliveries of fish apparently. There were other places on the island that had fish available and some did not, so I dont know why that was but the day we had lunch here NO FISH! That was...the only reason we went was because we were comparing all the fish sandwiches on the island (we were there 12 days) So the options we had left here were nill. We both ordered a chicken club kinda sandwich but it was way to soggy or wet with sauce so it did not hold together at all. Sure wish I had tried the fish had it been available to do a good comparisonMore
The Lazy Trout has become our new, favourite place for breakfast. A lovely peaceful place to dine beside the pool with the most wonderful mountain backdrop.
He ordered the "Big Breakfast" which consisted of local crispy bacon, 2 eggs, 2 chorizo sausages, grilled tomato and...toast.
I opted for the "Lord Melrose" - 2 beautifully poached eggs on muffin halves, smothered in perfectly made hollandaise sauce and accompanied by grilled garlic prawns and a small pot of mustard sauce.
He had a coffee & I a chai latte.
Our meals and the service were so good that we returned a few days later for lunch.
We noted that lunch time was much busier, with a few large tables of local business people. Despite the busyness, were were shown to a table in a timely manner and service was once again friendly and efficient. If returning for lunch I would certainly prebook to ensure a table.
On this occasion we both decided to have prawn and bacon wraps which were excellent. They were huge with an abundance of grilled prawns and bacon with salad leaves and a very flavoursome dressing. He again had a coffee and I a fruit smoothie, served with a bamboo straw.
I would certainly recommend at least one visit to this lovely cafe.
Just something to bare in mind to avoid disappointment for those taking children to this restaurant with the intention of allowing them to swim in the very inviting pool. There is a large sign when you first enter the cafe stating that the pool is for the use of house guests only.More
We had been recommended to try this place so we decided to go in search of it. The café, which is open to the public, is part of the Wellesley Hotel, a small B & B in a quiet part of Rarotonga. Not the easiest...place to find, nor to sort out where visitors are supposed to park.
The café is in a lovely quiet, leafy position beside the pool. Only one couple was there when we arrived – not sure if they were visitors or residents.
We visited at a time that was after our breakfast and well before our time for lunch. Being a café within a small resort they don’t cater for things like cakes and sandwiches so we were a bit limited for choice as we didn’t want a ‘meal’. My husband ordered coffee and declared it very good. I decided to treat myself to an iced Coffee. To be honest it was a little disappointing, not as cold as I would have liked, nor as thick, but obviously that was their style. But I did enjoy the bamboo straw – my first experience of one.
They offered to make some toast for my husband as he was a bit peckish and he was delighted with the result, including the butter which was perfect – neither too frozen, nor too soft. Just perfect.
While we were there a number of locals arrived for coffee – obviously a favourite place for a morning break for those working in the area.
I don’t really think we gave it the best opportunity to shine because of when we decided to visit. However, its situation is pleasant and the staff friendly, so we’ll make a point of going again on our next trip – either for breakfast or lunch.More
We had just come off a 9 hour flight from LA and needed to unwind before our transfer flight, breakfast was included here with our Hotel Accommodation, we were not disappointed, the dining area is right near the pool and garden area and the selection...and the quality of the food was excellent. The servers were very nice!More
