This was my 2nd time visiting The Iron Rooster in Annapolis. We arrived for lunch around 2:00. While we waited in line to give our name, there was a woman in front of us who was unmasked. The gray haired host told the woman she...needed to wear a mask and asked whether she had one. She said no. He said,"well, today is your lucky day because I have one here for you." He took out a mask and handed it to her. She took it from him, and because her one hand was full, she was trying to put on her mask with one hand around each ear. It wasn't going very well but she finally got it on. The host snapped at her,"you were lucky enough for me to give you a mask and you just grab it out of my hands ungratefully? The least you could do is say thank you!" His hostility at this customer made us very uncomfortable, afraid for a minute that he was going to start a fight with her. We had no idea where his hostility came from because she didn't snatch it from him at all and she was trying to put it on the best she could. She replied quietly saying,"I didn't snatch it." And he continued by arguing that she did. She didn't respond. He told her to "stand over there and wait" and pointed. At this point, we were nervous and uncomfortable and if we hadn't been so hungry we probably would have left. When we got to him, we told him that we had a dog and asked whether he had outdoor seating. He pointed to the heated tent outside and told us,"yes sure. We can seat you outside. It's a 40 minute wait." We thanked him and gave him our phone number and walked around the area for a bit. When we got called, we went inside to The host stand. A different man was there this ltime. We gave him our name and told him that we have been called for a seat. He started to seat us inside so we said, "we have a dog." He said, "I didn't know that" so he led us outside and without turning around, said loudly, "am I supposed to be a mind reader?" We were super uncomfortable at this point and couldn't figure out what we had done wrong. He sat us at the table and a while later asked our drink order. When waters came out, it was another half hour until he took our order and we had to flag him down. We ordered the homemade Boston creme pop tart. When it finally came out, they brought us the wrong one. We couldn't find our waiter, so a different waitress took it back. When the pop tart came, there was no cream at all. It tasted like a warm cookie. It took our food what seemed like close to an hour to come out. We had two burgers with chicken noodle soup and chicken on biscuits. The chicken and biscuit was very good and I recommend it. The potatoes were cold when they arrived at the table, but it wasn't a big deal. The burgers were ok. The soup was bland. We were pleased they brought out a dog bowl for the dog when we requested one. Our waiter informed us that the kitchen cooks were cranky and not in a good mood because they had been working for 5 hours by the time we got there for lunch. When our food arrived we'd been waiting almost 3 hours to eat and scarfed it down. When we finished eating, we asked whether the waiter could put two meals on one check and the third on a separate check and he said he would. When he brought out the check, he handed me two duplicate checks. We paid one and let him know he hadn't brought the other guests their checks but had rung me up twice. Without a word to us, he took the check back and brought us the correct bill. Final thoughts: From the time we gave our name until we left was a total of 3 hours. Most of the time was spent waiting for our order to be taken and waiting for our food. The hosts and male wait staff were disrespectful to customers who hadn't done anything to cause this and we were very uncomfortable during our visit. I thought perhaps because my cousin speaks softly, they hadn't heard him and that explained the errors, but they verbally confirmed everything he said, so it definitely wasn't his volume. We were polite and thanked them often, and when the waiter commented on the slow food and grouchy cooks, I said, "Ugh you must be so tired on your feet all day." He replied, "no, I just got here. I'm fine." So their hostility was nothing we had done. The food was ok but not worth the wait or the disrespectful treatment and awful service. This would have been a 4 star review had we not felt nervous that we would be yelled at in front of everyone the entire time we were there. Pros: dog friendly, heated outdoor tent, chicken and biscuits tasty, burgers cooked as asked Cons: hostile to customers, waiter errors on the order and bill, very long wait times for a seat, drinks to be taken, and food order to be taken. Very long wait times for food to arrive. We came for lunch and by the time it arrived, it was dinner time.More

Obviously, given a 90 minute wait for a table, this place is popular. And the service, even as busy as it was, was fantastic. Out of our group of 8, 4 got chicken-based dishes, the other 4 crab-based dishes. All in the first group were...ecstatic, all in the latter group extremely disappointed. There's another place in town that has the saying "all killer, no filler" about their crab dishes. At the Iron Rooster, it's "all filler, no killer". I get better crab cakes in Minnesota, and that's just wrong.More

Excellent Eggs Benedict (several variations) with good coffee, friendly staff in a nice environment. I had the crab cake Bene on one visit and the Ranchers Bene on another. Both good choices.

The Iron Rooster has a fantastic menu. It is very hard to select from because they have so many great items to select from. The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

We decided to have breakfast at the Iron Rooster after we found ourselves downtown in Annapolis running some early morning errands. We heard good things about the Iron Rooster and we were not disappointed. Initially we were seated at a high top in the bar...area and I was less than thrilled but it was actually nice and quiet, the bartender served us in a quick and friendly manner. The menu is a traditional mix of breakfast fare with a nod to Maryland. We had the Angry Pig omelette (which has a variety of pork meats in it) and the pancake small stack, with sides of sausage, scrapple and a fruit cup. Over all the meal was very satisfying, as was the service. We will be back for another great breakfast.More

We liked everything about the Iron Rooster except that one of the servers was so rude to her co-workers. Ask to sit upstairs for great views!

Sadly this location was closed the first 2 days we were in town. But on my last day I was able to squeak in for breakfast at 8 am sharp when the doors opened. They have a very large outdoor seating area (tent with great...air circulation) so that should be a great option in this second year of covid madness. Within 15 minutes every table downstairs was occupied. This is the kind of place that truly must be a madhouse on weekends with long waits. But the food is worth it. I was starving and didn't want to miss the chance to try their famous chicken, so I added 2 chicken tenders to my breakfast order for $5. And it was soooooooo worth it. YUM. I ate every bite of my eggs and bacon, cooked just the way I like them. I wasn't sure if I would like their flavored butter but it was heavenly. The waffle was denser than a Belgian waffle, like not airy. And half a waffle, which came with my entree, is BIG. So don't see "half a waffle" and think you'll still be hungry because you won't! But do add on some chicken to your breakfast. It's that good. Just plan to walk a little more to burn it off. 10/10 would recommend. Also, SHOUT OUT to my server Jayna S. She was excellent even though she was juggling a lot of tables. Sweet, observant and attentive and an asset to Iron Rooster Annapolis. Be kind to your servers y'all. It's rough out there and they're doing their best!More
