If you appreciate good coffee then this is the place to go. I had a cappuccino and was very tempted to order a second cup. I highly recommend this place. You can't go wrong with fresh coffee roasted on site.

This is the place to come if you want simple coffee (i.e. no flavors) and that is about it. There is no food or pastries. As their saying goes, "coffee is all we do". I got a mocha and it was nice and strong and decent price. The cafe however is lacking in appearance and cleanliness. There is very old... More

Staying about a 6 weeks in Antigua taking Spanish lessons - found this place the first day we were here. We come back every day for a great cup of coffee before heading to class. The coffee is great and the baristas are very friendly and tolerate of our poor Spanish skills. Highly recommended!

They do coffee, just that and they do it right. They do probably the best coffee in town. I havent tasted all but so far it"s way the best. An espresso is in the size it should be and it tastes like real italian espresso. Why do I know that, living in switzerland, next to Italy, helps.....

There is something about a Coffee shop in another country that really gives you that insider feeling for the culture of a city. The Refugee was exactly this. The Barista was really friendly, the people were cool, and of course the coffee was great. The refugee was a cute little cafe that was a lot of fun to hang out... More

We were hot and thirsty and stopped in and had really great ice coffees. It is right across the street from the Spanish embassy.

Best coffee by far in Guatemala...and thats saying something! Spent some time in Antigua and went to The Refuge nearly every day at some point. Love the emphasis on the coffee, direct trade with the farmers and most of all the perfect coffee you get everytime. Their macchiatos are superb!

The venue is very quaint. You walk in and their is a U-shape coffee bar around the espresso machine and barista. It probably seats about 8-10 around the bar. There are also a couple of tables on the left hand side for more space. The barista was super kind and and made a great cappuccino. A slight essence of chocolate... More
