We we recommend the place by our AirBnB hosts, and this worked for us previously, but unfortunately not this time. The house wine was a bit funny tasting (all previous house wines were excellent). The food was just plain disappointing. The grilled calamari was rubbery and tasteless, the grilled sea bass with supposed shrimp sauce was dry and the sauce... More

We were recommended to have dinner here by the local we rented a room from, but I don't know why. The service was slow, the wine was not nice (we have only had good wine in Croatia so far, don't know why this restaurant's wine was bad), and the food mediocre. The calamari was rubbery and bland, and the seabrass... More

We had an early dinner at this restaurant in split. We had grilled fish and a fish stew- both were delicious. The waiter was really friendly and took the time to talk to us about the town and the dishes. Im surprised to see the current overall rating is 4/5- we would definitely go here again the food was amazing.

SInce the outdoor tables were occupied we were placed inside at first but was told when there were tables available outside and this was very appreciated. After a long wait for the food both the risotto frutti di mare and octopus stew had to much tomato-sauce in them. Recommended because of the nice location and friendly staff but not food

Referred here & once you get past the pretentious waiter & hour long wait the food is worth it. We both had seafood dishes which were fresh. Too much salt & onions in the octopus salad which overwhelmed the meal however it was edible. Everything is covered in olive oil but it is good quality. I wouldn't come again but... More

Delicious and fresh sea bream dish with spinach and cooked potatoes, we both had this and highly recommend it! This dish got my boyfriend planning to learn fishing... White wine called Debit was recommended and good, on the otherhand i havent really drank bad white wine in Croatia. House cake was light and ok. Good desert if you don't want... More

Came to Konoba Marjan based on trip advisor reviews but it was booked. Host suggested Insula and we were pleasantly surprised. Quaint seats in a hidden corridor reminiscent of old Italy provided a much more authentic experience. Had the whole sea bass and the stewed beef with gnocchi. The sea bass was absolutely delicious. Our server was friendly. Would absolutely... More

We came here as a recommendation from a different restaurant that was booked (which seems to be a theme in these reviews). We ordered the fish in white wine sauce and it was the most bland dish we have eaten during vacation. Don't waste a meal in this city, go somewhere else.

We tried to get into Konoba Matejuska (which has very good reviews) but it was fully booked and they recommended here. It is not easy to find, but it is in the olds town which has a slightly different atmosphere to the touristy palace area which is a plus. Absolutely delicious seafood: the traditional "read seafood stew" was lovely, and... More

Got their info from another restaurant, marjan, that was booked. Should have gone with my instincts and left once I got inside and was overpowered by the fish smell. I waited for ~10 minutes and said to myself if no one comes in 2 minutes I'm leaving. I ordered what the waiter recommended fish in white wine sauce, since I... More
