Nice food and lovely restaurant. Service a bit eccentric but the reason for my lowly review is that they refused to serve tap water. This may be unfair but I find it outrageous these days. Spend £200 on a meal and they won’t give you...a glass of water. Go to a coffee shop and you get one, same in a bar. Jokers. I bet they gave Rod Stewart one.More

Sublime. Perfect service, perfect food and perfect ambiance. We ate on the upstairs terrace which is extremely atmospheric. The service is top notch and we enjoyed our interactions with our waiter. We had the Ston oysters, the seafood platter for two and a lobster salad....We also had an excellent Croatian white wine. We went late. Started dinner at 10:00 pm and left around midnight. Had a fantastic time!More

It was cold so we wanted to sit inside. We started with excellent warm soup to start off. Then we had a course of grilled vegetables and a shrimp dish that was wonderful. Great service was provided, did not feel rushed at all.

Mentioned in my guidebook but variable reviews made me cautious about eating here. Liked the look of the place as we passed so decided to try it out - good move. Seated on the upstairs terrace by very friendly receptionist, as it was a cool...evening promptly put the heaters on for us. Extremely personable and helpful waitress with a good sense of humour who advised re: menu and local wine to accompany. Oysters from Ston were excellent starter and house special of shrimp pasta with pancetta for the main was superb. Posit wine recommendation was very good. Carrot cake and chocolate mousse both good but my mousse was best! Nice local dessert wine recommended by waitress. All-in-all could not fault the restaurant, the food or the service.More

Crab soup very good, oysters au gratin so good we ordered second order, before entrees. The seafood fettuccine with truffles is fantastic. Grilled sea bass perfect. Scallops perfect if you are not starving included creamed potatoes with lentils. Great service, beautifully decorated.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us, but we were rather disappointed. For an appetizer we ordered a Greek salad. It was small and ordinary—truly no Michelin Star inspiration there. For the main course we had the salt crusted fish for two. Although it was...moist and tasty, it came with nothing—only some unprofessionally filleted fish was placed on our plates. Other, less expensive fish dishes came with some type of sides. The service was very poor. I don’t believe that our server came to our table even once—not to ask how the food was nor to refill our water glasses! This restaurant was definitely overpriced AND overrated.More

We were sat on the upstairs terrace which was beautiful and opted to go for the tasting menu as we wanted to try everything!! The scampi truffle pasta is all we’ve talked about, it was incredible and we toyed with going back later in our...holiday just for that alone. The service was friendly and efficient and the whole meal went smoothly with the perfect time elapsed between courses. I cannot wait to have the opportunity to come back. Thank you for a fantastic meal.More

Proto was recommended by one of out tour guides for the seafood. The meal was very satisfying as well as the excellent service we experienced. Highly recommend it and will definitely come back when I return to Dubrovnik.

We were told that this restaurant served the best fish in Dubrovnik Old Town and we were not disappointed. The setting for this restaurant (we were on the Terrace upstairs) was utterly charming, but the street tables looked just as good. The food was excellent...and the service was discreet and helpful. We shared a fish platter which was well cooked and very generous. Its expensive - but it is a very classy restaurant = well worth a visit.More

It is another gorgeous warm night in Dubrovnik, and I was able to be seated outdoors without a reservation. This took some persuasive talking (the outdoor tables are now completely full as I sip my Csppucino) and it was so well worth it. My waiter,...Frano, excellent at his job, convinced me to limit myself to the starter of grilled octopus with Swiss chard (a bit of potato and onion) followed by a large portion of absolutely memorably delectable fettuccine with Adriatic shrimp in a black truffle cream sauce. I couldn’t have been more content after this meal (although the lamb Peka at Konoba Dubrava was also pretty spectacular). It was accompanied by a beautifully balanced Malvasijan (Karaman) white from a nearby winery Some reviews have expressed surprise at how expensive this restaurant is, but with two glasses of wine and tip, I’d call it moderately expensive and well worth it.More
