About
Bouang – a cozy Asian Eatery located on the main street in Luang Prabang. Our concept – Asian street foods meets French Bistro. The décor is inspired by years of travel and a local market obsession. Open brick work, long wooden mirrors, bamboo baskets and coloured enamel plates create a vibrant backdrop to try our cuisine. One whole wall features a painting by street artist Buddy Peace. The open kitchen features hanging market umbrellas and fruit baskets. We invite you to come say hello and meet the kitchen team! We are passionate about quality and affordability. We hand select all our ingredients, wines and order quality products from France and elsewhere. Every morning our chef heads down to the local market to pick up the days produce.

After false starts and full houses, we finally arrived here on Valentines night. It was already busy by the time we arrived at about 7/7.30pm but we got a table and ordered a good red wine (nice Languedoc Corbieres at a fair price) and a Basil Mojito which was good. To eat, I chose the Lao meatballs which, with dill infused, were tasty and came with nice chunky chips (or french fries if you are not English!) and a salad, and my fiancée had a chicken burger teaming with sauces and taste again with chips and a slightly different salad. The place has tons of character, it is busy and friendly and the ambience is great. It definitely has a good “vibe”. Staff were friendly and efficient and although slightly more expensive than some of its peer group, it is cheap by UK/EU standards. Our total bill was circa £15UK. I would highly recommend this restaurant

We came here for lunch three days in a row during our stay in Luang Prabang. Cool venue vibes with great service and amazingly delicious food that is cheap for what it is as it’s such high quality. The Buddha bowl, coconut lemongrass fish and Laap khai are all stand outs. Can’t recommend enough.

Ate here tonight after checking out reviews online (always do) and it did not disappoint! We blew our traveller budget a bit but that was totally ok! A lao beer is only 12000 kip - the same price as a soft drink so why not?! We shared a starter (delicious mango spring rolls), I had the lime chicken burger - so tasty and the chips were so good! And by good I definitely don’t mean healthy! My fella had the pork potato dish which was smaller but still very tasty. Then we shared the Bouang Mess dessert. Cream, mango, passion fruit and meringue goodness!!! The bill came to 221,000 - less than £20 which I thought was definitely more than worth it!

Came here after reading some great reviews however left very disappointed with the service and food. I ordered the beef burger and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It was in fact very delicious but it became apparent after a few bites and a second opinion from my boyfriend that it was completely raw. We brought this to the attention of the waitstaff and she offered to put the burger back on the grill, and when it was returned it had been squished and was devoid of flavour because it had been carelessly chucked as a whole burger back on the grill. No refund offered, no replacement offered, no apologies.... 1 Star. Spent big money on a terrible lunch.

Great spot for tasty asian-fusion food in a cozy space with a good atmosphere, cute decor touches, and enjoyable tunes. Lots of good vegetarian options too. We had mango fresh spring rolls, gnocchi green curry, and pumpkin veggies red curry—all highly recommended. Definitely worth having a meal here.

American expat with Lao wife here, nice quaint eatery in downtown LP...chic atmosphere and decoration, we had the three jeu dip appetizer, green curry gnocchi and pork stew parmentier, My fav was the stew, had a hint of cinnamon- the wife liked the gnocchi. All in all, a nice quiet dinner though restaurant was busy. Service was good and food on par for the quality! Recommend for lunch or dinner. French lady as manager was friendly and accommodating.

Delicious veggie burger and green curry gnocchi. Quick service and a quirky decorated restaurant. This was the most expensive dinner we had whilst here as other times we had eaten at the night market - so a bit of a treat and change of cuisine given we had a burger and gnocchi.

We booked a table for the evening while passing during the day, glad we did. The food was gorgeous to look at and delicious to eat. My husband had the fish burger, presented in a gorgeous green bun. Guy sitting next to us had a meat burger (I think) in a gorgeous red bun and I saw another coloured bun on someone else’s plate- really appealing and modern. I had the gnocchi with green curry- wow it was delicious. It felt a very sociable restaurant too. Maybe the fusion of food help lead to the interactions. Put this venue on your to do list , it won’t disappoint

After a week in Laos trying to experience as much local Loatian cuisine as possible, it was refreshing to enjoy some original Asian-western fusion dishes. I had the green curry gnoggi which was nice. But everyone had something with a unique twist. Dining on the porch overlooking the town buzz was also a great experience.

Concept of healthy eating, organic produce and locally sourced food with little wastage is an excellent idea. I suppose this is what may cause the increase in prices as this place is expensive if you’re on a budget. And that being said, the food in our opinion was just average, nothing spectacular. Would suggest trying other establishments.

The cafe has a slightly Chinese atmosphere with its posters and decorations, but the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The graffiti on the tiles in the restrooms is also very unique and nice. Another characteristic is that there are a high proportion of white people.

This is a great restaurant to try Laotian food in a more Western setting. The interior is lovely, and there are also some really comfortable outdoor seats available to sit and people watch. The portions are perfect, and most dishes come with a side of black sticky rice. The river weeds are amazing, especially the dipping sauce that comes with them, and I loved the papaya salad too. They also focus on sustainability and try not to create food waste!

We really liked this restaurant. We ended up here on our first night and went there again on our last night because the food was really good. There is Asian and European food, a bit in a mix. Good cocktails and desserts as well. Obviously prices are not as low as on the food market, but it’s so worth the money. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re visiting Luang Prabang.

We had dinner there twice. This provides a change from Asian cuisine. We really enjoyed the burgers, with special mention to the chicken one. Prices obviously higher than for Laotian cuisine and restaurants, but it's still very reasonable.
