The set menu of Laos classics made choosing easy and there was something to enjoy and share with every member of the family (even the fussy eaters). Decor in restaurant also of a very high standard. Pumpkin soup the stand out dish.

I have heard a lot about this restaurant both from tourist and locals. So I have high expectations when I visited with my spouse. And Yes all my expectations were met. Clean, hospitable, service to perfection, elegant food presentation and most important very tasty food.

The menu can seem a bit overwhelming (vegan chapters, short/long menus, many menu options etc) but just go for the "loas tasting menu". They provide explanation on everything and it is so good and nice to get to know the flavors! In case you worry about not liking something, don't worry because it's so much food, you probably won't finish... More

The food was amazing, the ambiance lovely. I am a coeliac and that was a little difficult at this restaurant, but we managed and the food was divine. I had heard so much about L'Elephant and it lived up to all its magnificence and charm. The use of great local ingredients together with Lao/French fusion, perfect.

Enjoy a nice diner in a great atmosphere, top of quality service and meals. Local products are used, try the watercress soup, the Buffalo Tartar and the Vang Vien goat cheese, it will blow your palate ! Advance booking is wise, the place is very popular.

As a vegetarian I was happy to find that they have a vegetarian /vegan part of the restaurant - separate to the main restaurant area. We could also stay in the atmospheric part of the restaurant and have my veggie food there as well. Great , tasty and high quality! Prices are medium range to high compared to local rice... More

the delicacy of Lao cuisine comes down to the frehness of the raw ingredients and how they are balanced with eachother. l'elephant knows exactly how to dose and truely satisfy tastebuds. we really enjoyed our meal here and although slighlty more expensive than the other restaurants, it is more than worth it.

This is a hugely popular place and always busy so booking is essential. It is predominantly old fashioned French cuisine with a few standard Lao dishes thrown in.We had Lao food which was acceptable but hugely overpriced in comparison to other places in town. The stuffed bamboo was ok and the marinated buffalo ok but bland.Service was efficient but the wine... Great place, great food, great service. We had a very enjoyable meal here, one of the best in LP. Only downside is that is pretty expensive but this is mainly down to the price of wine.

visited for lunch - did not have the Lao set menus as too many courses for a light lunch but had the daily special menu which was great: lentils followed by potatoes and perch and profiteroles for dessert!
