It has been quite interesting to read some very varying reviews of this restaurant including my own from last year when I gave it 5 stars. I went back tonight and I had a wonderful table as I had gone there before to request a particular area to sit as I did last year so that was again a great start. The environment as so many have mentioned is beautiful and magical. I would describe the service as just adequate tonight. What stuck in my mind from last year was the dessert of chocolate fondant and vanilla ice cream which I still think is exceptional. I think I most probably ordered the same chicken dish as last year which was perfectly fine but not exceptional. I again as last year feel the restaurant is expensive for Laos but fair value in most other European countries or the US. However, what I find a bit cheeky is to charge 3 to 4 times the amount for a Beer Lao and then adding on VAT and a service charge which no restaurant does in LP. The difference is admittedly not going to change my life but it does feel a bit pretentious. This restaurant is solely for tourists which is not a bad thing and I have been to LP 10 times so I know there are many other establishments to go to that I enjoy. Would I go back? Absolutely. But maybe I would go back slowly and not rush. Excellent but not exceptional. As the reviews have been all over the place go for yourself and enjoy a special place.

When you talk about magical this restaurant is the perfect place!!! The Heritage status ponds just appear in front of you once you step inside the place: beautiful and peaceful. I was also surprised of the sheer size of the restaurant…nevertheless everything is wonderfully appointed you can see lots and lots of people eating! Anyway the little booth were we were sited was really cosy and full of Laotian charme, the menu so interesting and everything we had was very tasty and beautifully presented (I will just mention the fried chicken with lemongrass), service was even more impeccable than usual and I do not think that the price were truly expensive at all (only wines are expensive). No wonder why this place is a the top of the restaurant list in Luang Prabang. A beautiful place a beautiful evening.

Magnificent setting: we eat on wooden terraces spread all around a ornamental pond with lush vegetation. Good change of scenery. Lots of efficient staff but be careful who push consumption a little. €60 per person with aperitif, shared starter, main course, dessert, wine and digestive. It's very good. Recommended by the backpacker.

This restaurant only survives on tourists who are ripped off. The food is nicely prepared, but it lacks any pep for a restaurant with this price level. The waiter is rather pushy and really got on our nerves. The plates are put out nicely warmed, but by the time the food arrives they are cold again.

Instead of the usual Lao welcome we were greeted with ‘do you have a reservation’ -which we did. Try the Laojito for a refreshing cocktail. We shared a very tasty Pork Pate and I opted for the Wok fried Buffalo - very chewy but than I never had Buffalo before….. My daughter had the spare Ribs - both dishes come only with s few salad leaves. Good but not outstanding as one should expect going by some of the reviews. When it came to wanting to have some wine the ‘choice’ was one each, red or white which is very poor given the price level which is high for Lao. Service was very good and attentive and well worth the added 10% service charge which I hope is fairly shared among the team. The ambience and setting are great and so is the comfortable seating. Maybe our expectations were too high but we would not return to see the pond but rather improved food….

The restaurant and the surroundings are stunning, with a pond and beautiful tables. Also very quiet. Food is amazing, with local dishes, flavours and spices. You will not regret eating here. Be aware, it’s VERY pricy compared to most other restaurants we experienced in Laos in general - this was by far the most expensive restaurant we dined in.

The pictures on Trip Adviser don't do this place justice. It is stunning. We walked from our hotel and started to worry as the streets a basic residential houses and then suddenly you come to this oasis. The food is top notch and great flavours so it's not all about the setting, but come on this has to be one of the prettiest restaurants in this part of Asia. For the area it is expensive but compared to what you would get for this money in Europe or the US then it is great value. Our meal came to $83 after service charge and taxes.

I asked for a non-spicy grilled fish and they brought it spicy. Staff not attentive and not very courteous. I told the staff that I couldn't eat it but instead of bringing me what I ordered they smiled. To be avoided. I don't recommend it. Prices too expensive.

It is part of the Maison Dalabua Hotel and I made the Reservation online. The restaurant is next to a lily pond and is beautiful, although as I went at night it was barely seen. I asked for the following: - Say Oua: the typical Luang Prabang sausage - Mok Kai: steamed chicken in red curry and coconut milk - 2 chocolate and passion fruit ice cream balls Water and mango juice This restaurant is already quite expensive for the country you are in, as the tab was about 748000 kips, or about $36. That is highly recommended.

We spent a fabulous time there for dinner on December 31 around a special New Year's Eve tasting menu. Booked from France well in advance because this is the best Laotian restaurant in Luang Prabang. Exceptional place around a classified water lily pond. The restaurant was very well equipped. Perfect service. Exciting cuisine. Topissimo cocktails /vs a wine list a little "short". Go with your eyes closed - even if prices are in the "high" range.

This is one of the upmarket hidden gems of the city and prices are expensive. However, the service is exemplary and consistent. The food is tasty and we enjoyed the Neam Jeun, Or Lam Jae and Hope Pa Sa Moun Pai.

Beautifully located restaurant. don't go here if you want to compare it to Laotian street food, the quality is too good for that. staff who speak reasonable English and we had lunch there once and dinner once. If you take the tasting menu, take it for one person, share it and order 2 separate side dishes, more than enough otherwise you won't finish it. beautiful surroundings, reasonable wine list, and for European prices, we thought it was worth it.

Luang Prabang is full of restaurants overlooking the Mekong river. This one is completely different as it is overlooking a quite gorgeous garden and pond with lotus plants The food and service are very refined and staff respectful and informed. I had buffalo steak barbecued and expected it to be chewy but it was tender and delicious. A good menu overall Highly recommend as somewhere exceptional in LP and out of the ordinary. Dinner with a beer cost about $16

Manda de Laos had been recommended to me by a professional colleague both for its food and its lovely setting around an expansive lily pond. The restaurant adjoins the Maison Dalabua Hotel in the leafy inner western district of beautiful Luang Prabang only 5-10 minutes by tuk tuk from the centre of the town. I made an on-line reservation 2 days in advance which was efficiently confirmed by email. On arrival with a guest, a resident of Luang Prabang to whom I had a debt of gratitude, and confirming my booking, we were promptly diverted from a nicely located and fully laid vacant table for 2 and guided to a bare and disheveled table in the furthest and loneliest reaches of the restaurant.  Apparently our preferred table was “already reserved” but no explanation was offered for the unlaid and grubby alternative we were awarded. However, after referring my disappointment to the manager our preferred table suddenly became available! Since the manager did not actually bother to present themself I remain puzzled by this turn of events and would be interested to know why we deserved this demeaning treatment. Anyone should know that that sort of attitude can embarrass and upset their customer’s evening, and appetite! In the event, my companion and I agreed the food we were served was good, comparing well with 3 other high profile restaurants I had enjoyed in Luang Prabang on previous evenings.  The ingredients were fresh and the presentation of the dishes was inviting. The table staff were impeccably presented and attentive. The ambience of this restaurant is unbeatable and offers a memorable evening out - barring seating hiccups!

This is really the best table in Luang Prabang where I stayed for 8 days in December 2024, testing many other addresses. Beautiful and relaxing setting around a small pond covered with water lilies, high-class service and catering to taste some Laotian specialties. I liked it so much that I dined there twice and had lunch the day of departure.
