Our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor! We like taking new people for the experience (especially children). We love the tea also (cold or hot)! Wish there were more tables like the front wicker one though.

This is the first time I visited an Ethiopian restaurant. The most astonishing was to receive the bread, which did not look like bread at all, it was more like a sponge, but tasted well. We ate several dishes containing chicken or beef, all rather spicy, but not too hot, as we asked for milder versions. The sides were lentil... More

I've made this a must-stop for dinner ever since we first dined here 8 years ago. The atmosphere (especially the manner in which the food is delivered) is fantastic and makes for a delightful social experience (bring friends or family). The food is similar in style and flavor to Indian or Middle Easter and I frequently find myself overeating when... More

What a disappointing experience! Their injera (the Ethiopian staple on which all food is served) is NOT made from Teff flour. Instead it is made from some white flour which makes for awfully stale, thin and dry injera. inedible! When questioned, we were told they couldn't source Teff flour and next time we should call ahead. Nonsense, Teff flour is... More

The Blue Nile is the place to go when you are tired of the traditional American cuisine and what to experiment something more exotic. A very good option for these seeking a new culinary experience is the Ethiopian Feast that includes tree meat dishes and six vegetable dishes. This way you can sample most dishes of the menu. Another aspect... More

We were in town for the Michigan PSU game and family who live locally took us here for dinner. Neither my wife or I had ever dined at an Ethiopian restaurant, and we didn't quite know what to expect. We ordered the feast, which is served in a basket that also serves as your table. There was a variety of... More

We either eat here or bring takeout home every time we go to Ann Arbor. Love the all-you-can-eat feast. The meat option is delicious, but you really won't miss the meat if you get the vegetarian option because the spices are so flavorful and satisfying. Eat in if you can. It's a fun experience! and give their iced tea a... More

Noted for its sandwiches, I took for people to lunch. The fillings were scant and questionable quality. For example, the pastrami was not brisket but corned round--tough, tasteless, and chewy.

We took my parents for their anniversary. We were looking for something different and special! This certainly was. Everyone enjoyed the unique experience that this restaurant offered. We went on a day that had no music so it was quiet. We also went a little early (5:30) and there was not a lot of people there. The wait staff was... More

The "banquet only" fixed price feast, at close to $20 a person brings you a big platter of veggies such as spiced lentils, cabbage, etc. and a small amount of meat along with all the injera (Ethiopian bread, white and spongy crepes best describes it). While any of the little piles are replenished on request, there can't have been more... More
