We were in Arcadia for a few hours and decided to seek out something local for dinner. We stumbled upon Thee Abbey and decided to give it a try. It was an excellent choice! The dinner was very good, the staff friendly, and the facility...was clean and interesting. Housed in an old school cafeteria, the facility is decorated with school memorabilia, including a number of old wall maps. There is a small antique store attached, and an ice cream shop adjacent.More

Had a late lunch at Thee Abbey Kitchen. Soup and a cold ham and cheese sandwich. We wish we would have had the roast beef au jus. The bread was fresh and supposedly made at Thee Abbey. Quality okay and price as expected. We enjoyed...looking at the old Ursuline Academy and it's history. The whole place was clean but pretty run down. The waitress said it had just been sold to new owners...? Adjacent ice cream shop.More

Home made and ambiance don’t get any better than this! And just like home the selections may be a bit limited, but the excellent and fresh quality of the food is all you need. I had a burger and fries for dinner and the French...toast for breakfast during an overnight stay in the bnb. Everything was wonderful.More

Fall road trip to this beautiful area in Missouri. Had lunch at the Abbey Kitchen. The service was very nice. The food was fresh and sandwiches served on wonderful fresh home made bread. Be sure to investigate the history of this facility, The only negative...I have is the place could use a little TLC in the housekeeping department.More

We were visiting the area and had read about the Abbey online. It took no time for us to be seated during lunch hour, but it did take about half an hour before we got our food. I'm not sure if this is normal, but...if you are, like we were, required to be somewhere at 1:00 and you show up at noon and you don't get served until 12:30, maybe go somewhere else? That said, when we did get our food - a delicious turkey sandwich on a fresh roll with lettuce and cheese and a very tasty sauce for me and a toasted ham and cheese sandwich dusted with powdered sugar for my husband - it is worth the wait. We did end up eating half and asking for a to-go box to because we really had to be somewhere else at 1:00 and that place was a 15 minute drive away. The waitress was super friendly and running all over the place, doing her absolute best. My guess is that if they could add another server for the lunch rush, the owners would be doing themselves a favor by bringing in more customers, but I shouldn't judge the place based on my only having been there once. Check it out, maybe when the lunch crowd has dissipated, and I don't think you'll be disappointed with the food!More

I was here back in 2020 and I felt like the quality and seasoning of the food was much better. I came here this month (June 2022) and everything was just very bland. It felt more like I was getting food for the sake of...eating vs. actually enjoying what I ate. There's not much to choose from in this area, so it is what it is, however- I'd just go there for the ice cream in the candy shop, you can skip the food and hold out until you get back to civilization.More

A most amazing French dip sandwich from Thee Abbey Kitchen in Arcadia, MO. “Real“ roast beef, amazing house-made bread and very melty provolone cheese. I could not have asked for a better sandwich! Oh, and the dip was real “au jus“ from when they cooked...their beef, and there were bits of the meat at the bottom of the cup! This place is truly amazing - not only do they bake all their breads and other goodies, like cinnamon rolls, they also grind their own wheat to use in these items! Even though it was 4 PM, I asked to get an order of bacon. Their bacon is some of the best I’ve ever had, thick, meaty, smoky, always perfectly cooked, and I just can’t pass it up! Oh, and, I had to get a sweet treat afterwards! I didn’t want a giant cinnamon roll (or ice cream,m - they have a little ice cream/goodie shop attached to the restaurant!), so I got one of their chocolate chunk-caramel cookies and it was the bomb - a little crunch on the outside, a little chew on the inside and lots of fantastic flavor. Whenever I am in the area (I took a daytrip to Southeast Missouri to explore all around the Saint Francis Mountains yesterday), I make it a point to stop at the Arcadia Academy and Thee Abbey kitchen! I have been here several times, and the food has always been excellent, the service is wonderful, and the building is just a cool, old, historic place. They also make some of the very best bread I’ve ever eaten, so even if you don’t want a full meal or a sweet treat, you can get a loaf and you will be very happy!More

We enjoyed stopping by for dinner here with friends. The location is in an old Catholic girls college. The food items were all delicious for our party of 8, each with a different order. If we come to this area, we will eat here again.

The food here was wonderful! This is not your run-of-the mill, pre-packaged food thrown into a deep fryer type of establishment. Instead, breads and buns are homemade, fries are hand cut on site, etc. This within itself was a refreshing change. Beyond that, though, the...food was simply excellent in taste. Everyone in the family was more than happy. It is pricier than other restaurants. You get what you pay for.More

We stayed in Ironton because it is such a great central locations for some beautiful Missouri parks and hiking. Elephant Rocks is a must see! The Abbey was right down the street from our VRBO rental and it was wonderful! The place itself is an...historic landmark that took me right back to my parochial school days. The food was very good and the service is excellent. Don't miss the baked goods. Sweet shop too. To die for! It's not a five star restaurant, it's a local place staffed mostly by young people and just the homey, local atmosphere we were looking for. Sweet shop too. If you're there, go by. You'll be glad you did.More
