We were staying nearby and had been recommended the Maracuya as a good place to eat in Arica. It's on the coast just south of town, and has a lovely sea view - the terrace area in particular. We visited on a Monday evening and inevitably it was fairly quiet. Service was excellent, as was the food - sesame toasted... More

Wide range of local and Chilean sea food in excellent preparations. Good selection of wines, beers and juices. The prices are a bit expensive but according with the level and in line with other similar Chilean restaurants.

A lot of staff, but our suggestion would be to invest a little bit more in decent cooking. No fantasy at all and the catch of the day was probably done at the other end of the world.

We had dinner at this place twice and both time the quality of the food and service was excellent. The fish dishes are very good and the service is good as well. There are numerous waiters that all have their own task, which makes it sometimes a bit strange becausing ordering and serving is strictly seperated. Nonetheless the service is... More

The location is as best as it can get and the food satisfactory. It was the quality of service that dampened the experience. Normal initial reception, and then nothing happens. Finally, when something happens, more time is expanded with a sluggish more happening. The restaurant wasn't even half-full, and waiters could be seen attempting to look and keep themselves busy.... This restaurant did not live up to its reputation. Yes, it is right at the ocean's edge - that was probably the best aspect for us. The atmosphere was sadly lacking as the restaurant was not even half full. Despite this, the service was slow and disjointed. My husband was happy with his salmon, but my fish proved daunting -... The Maracuya is a very nice and nicely located at the seafront. The fish we ordered was excellent and the dishes nicely presented. The waiters all wear a 'little man in the ear', which looks impressive! The 'little man' seems to be a devil, sending all waiters constantly around but without really being effective. After having waited for half an... More
