This was a such a great find. The coffee was hot, fresh and delicious. The waitresses were pleasant, friendly helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, including coffee refills and how everything tasted. The food was so tasty. My husband had the special...apple cinnamon hot cakes. These were some of the best hot cakes, almost like giant crepes but better. A perfect blend of little chunks of apples and cinnamon. So delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich with ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The sandwich had a hearty serving of ham and the american cheese was melted to perfection over the fried egg. The bagel was also fresh and delicious.More

The food overall is very good. My favorite is their pancakes. Thin and light. The coffee is also very good. Service and overall value is excellent.

We came just for the pancakes. I am a breakfast person, but often don't order pancakes in restaurants because I am exceptionally picky about those (as opposed to waffles, etc). Most restaurants make them too doughy and thick for my taste. I saw the reviews...and accolades about the pancakes and dove in! These are truly in the top 5 I have had ever in my travels. The eggs and potatoes were just fine. The service was excellent, friendly and prompt. They only reason I gave them 4 stars was because of an ant problem they were having that greeted us immediately upon sitting. I am not unreasonable and know that can be fixed and am sure they are aware. Clearly, it did not stop me from ordering, as I was determined.More

So, myself and a few friends of mine were in AC to watch the implosion of the Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino on Feb 17, 2021. Since we were up and out early in the morning, we decided to go eat breakfast after the event...happened. By 9:15am, it was boom-boom-boom, dust & rubble... ok it was done... now where do we eat? [none of us had eaten all morning] My friends had already decided on going to Gilchrist for breakfast. Gilchrist? I had never heard of it. Though, admittedly even though I visit AC often, I still have some more work ahead of me to enjoy a lot of the many dining options in the city. To top it off, one of my friends was INSISTENT on getting real maple syrup for his pancakes, since it's not available at the restaurant. Now, as a skeptical New Yorker, I thought "What kind of restaurant serves these allegedly amazing pancakes, but no maple syrup?"... My expectations were set low. We [finally] find some of this liquid gold to pour over these [still allegedly] amazing pancakes. Then, was the discussion of "which one..? the one in Gardner's Basin, or the one in Tropicana?" The decision was finally made to head over to the one in the Basin area. Our short drive took us to Gardner's Basin, a quiet inlet way over in AC, with boats water and beach homes all over. [I was informed that there is a nearby Jitney stop if you want to come here but don't drive.] Ocean Hotel & Casino looms in the far distance towards the Boardwalk and beach. We park, right in front of this tranquil view of the inlet, right on the waterside. IT's FULL! What to do??? Even though it was a COLD COLD COLD morning, the outside seating had heater lamps there to keep things comfortable during the meal (we still kept our coats on too). REALLY GOOD COFFEE was served as we sat down, and we were happy to finally order some food! Most of us in our group (5) got the Hungry Man combo #3: three eggs, three hot cakes, choice of meat, home fries or grits, toast --- some in our group ordered the scrapple [they ended up not liking it that much - it's a bit of an acquired taste...] i ordered the bacon [isn't it a perfect pairing with pancakes?} The service was FAST... our order was put in, and the entire table was served within 10 minutes, I think we had just fully settled in, and had a round of coffee, the BAM our food was served! Amber our waitperson was super attentive and made sure all went smoothly during our meal. Ok, now I -thought- I knew my way around a good simple diner with a great breakfast, but NOW... I found it! WOWWWWWWWW... those PANCAKES!!! Eggs - fluffy tasty and really nice (but I love eggs anyway). Home fries - yummy... BUT THOSE PANCAKES!!! Disks of pure pancake perfection!!! and definitely worth the extra time to get the maple syrup, it is most deserving of it! When we ate here, there were also Peach and Chocolate Chip options for the pancakes. LOCATION right on the water, SELECTION with enough great options, QUALITY fresh and tasty, VALUE full plates of food - no skimping, PRICE was perfect, SERVICE our waitperson Amber was fun & friendly, informative and attentive... this is all green checkmarks down the line! Do yourself and your taste buds a favor, and enjoy at least a nice breakfast here! [They are open only for Breakfast or Lunch daily.]More

Went for breakfast as a solo diner while in AC. No wait at around 9:10 am on a Sunday morning. It was fairly full about 15 mins later. Had the hungry man combo #2 with eggs over easy, the peach pancakes they had on special,...grits, and turkey sausage. Everything was excellent. They have very light, fluffy, unique pancakes. Feels like a locals place, and it is, in all the best ways. I recommend them highly, and will return.More

We read that this was a local favorite, and we can see why. Their pancakes are delicious (I don't even like pancakes)! Everything else was a bit average, with their bacon being slightly less than (too thin). If I was to return, I would get...the largest stack of pancakes and that's it. FYI, they are super thin, so don't worry about a three stack, they will go down fast and easy.More

This is one of the gems of Atlantic City. It's a small but nice size eatery that has great breakfast and it's affordable. The staff are really nice and professional. It sits right off the water across from The Borgata, Harrah's and The Water Club....You will be very glad you stopped here.More

We just ordered regular coffee, it's really good regular coffee, but it's not flavored or fancy like a starbucks. I'm not sure of the exact brand of coffee they use, if that's what you're asking.
