About
Karavalli an iconic restaurant located at Vivanta Bengaluru Residency Road. Since inception in 1990, Karavalli has grown to be an institution when it comes to South west coast flavours. Modelled on a traditional Mangalorean bungalow, and surrounded by lush tamarind trees, the restaurant is inspired by the architecture of coastal South India. Ingredients from the coast, such as cloves, cinnamon, pepper, home grown chillies and only the freshest vegetables and finest meats make it to the menu. The chef and team have painstakingly preserved India’s most refined culinary traditions from our rich heritage by restoring age old recipes, decades of researching meeting with locals and recreating forgotten flavours of a glorious bygone era.

Safety : All staff wears masks, the tables are distanced and all precautions are being taken. Felt absolutely safe to dine in here.
Food: It is clearly the best seafood I have ever had. I had Moplah Cheeman Biryani (Prawns Biryani) and I had tears of happiness. The prawns were perfectly cooked, not over or under, the quantity of prawns in rice was perfect and the rice itself was very very tasty.
On another day, during the Aquafest where they have a special menu for seafood, I also had a platter - lady fish tawa fry, seer fish curry, appum and rice. I was extremely overwhelmed with the magic of this food.
Staff : I obviously could not resist myself from requesting to meet the chef Ramchandran who has been here for 17 years. The taste in his food comes from his roots in Kerala and his very humble nature. Served by Uday, since I was dining alone, he adjusted the quantity and also the cost of the dish since a full dish is really big portion. The staff is very humble, knows their food very well and is extremely hospitable. The made me feel at home.
Overall: This is a memory that is etched in my brain forever. I leave a little part of my heart at Karavalli. If heaven had a restaurant, it's name would be Karavalli!!

Anthony was our server and I must say we had a brilliant time because of him. He went out of his way to ensure the food was made to our taste and instructions. He also got us a complimentary cake and decor for my MIL’s birthday and charged us half price for a dish that was consumed less. From the beginning to the end he was extremely warm and helpful and just for that alone we would be happy to come back.
That aside the food was excellent and had the perfect taste of the South Indian cuisine. The spices were just right and the quantity was a lot. Pricing was also extremely affordable in spite of being a 5 Star!

I have returned to The Karavalli in Bangalore time and again to savour the best South Indian cuisine.
Each dish is so well crafted you can taste the layers of flavour and the succulence of the ingredients.The resam drink which is at once delicately sour and spicy is excellent with the dishes. Dessert is a must – try the dodol which is cleverly paired with ice cream.
Though a busy restaurant owing to its reputation, service is efficient and friendly, never rushed. Mr Anthony was extremely hospitable and having been with the restaurant throughout his career, knew the portfolio well and made very good recommendations.
The lush greenery around the restaurant is tranquil and rustic. The washrooms are special too!
I hope to return soon!

This has been my favorite restaurant in Bangalore for nearly three decades - starting from the time when I used to live in Bangalore. Now, I visit this place every time I visit Bangalore. I love all their desserts (most of them are very rare). On a hunch, I requested if I could buy the whole Bebinca cake as well as the Dodhol cakes (both Goan specialities) and luckily they had them. I packed them and carried them thru multiple security checks on my 32 hour travel back home to San Francisco. They survived the journey and puzzled a lot of folks at airport security.
We introduced this cuisine to the Taiwanese-American girlfriend of our son and she loved the food! The crab ghee roast was to die for and the fish fillet wrapped in banana leaf was tender and juicy.

I highly recommend Karavalli to all South Indian food connoisseurs. It’s a one of its kind place in the heart of Bangalore city, the moment you enter you feel like you are transported to a lush green hill station of Kerala and the likes. The first time we reached, the serene and tranquil atmosphere blew our mind away!
The icing on the cake is their unmatched hospitality, the entire team ensures that every guest feels welcome. They go out of their way to ensure the guests have a memorable time. Like once when we went without a reservation, the tables were full so the team immediately arranged an extra table from their godown and set it up for us, which goes to show just how much they care about everybody who walks into their restaurant
We recently were there for my Birthday, I requested for their regularly lunch Thali, since that wasn’t available due to Covid, they customised a Thali just for us which was much appreciated. Sundarrajan went out of his way to make it a special and memorable experience for us. I’d also like to mention Anthony who took care of us. It’s wonderful to see the F&B Manager walking around the premise ensuring every guest is well attended to. They arranged a surprise cake which was the perfect end to our lunch.
Coming to the food, whatever I say will not do justice, it’s simply the BEST!!
The service, food and hospitality is top notch. We will keep coming back ❤️

we chose this place for our anniversary lunch and it was our big mistake. with bangalore having so many options we felt just karavalli was trying to survive just by having the taj name by its side.. never opt for their thali which cost approx of 2000 per person where u are served cabbage palya,drumstick curry and a pices of chicken gravy ..to eat this any darshinis in bangalore do justice. for a family of 2 kids and 2 adults bill goes up to 5000 where the customers dont feel satisfied also.the ambience of the place is also bad .. all in all its a wrong choice for people who look for good food and not just go by the brand name

great food!! great service. thank you so much to kiran, vinod and ganesh for making our time here so unforgettable. our whole family enjoyed every single dish served to us and the servers were extremely hospitable. the atmosphere is very romantic and reminiscent of an old kerala house, beautiful ambience and decor with fresh appams made right before our eyes. the must haves are the prawn ghee roast, mango curry and the crab curry. super!! will visit again for sure

I discovered Karavalli on the Qmin app, but ended up talking to them directly. Let me start with saying a luxurious and hospitable experience in the time of lockdown is a dream come true. Karavalli helped us feel special but. It was parents wedding anniversary, and they made it extremely special with personalized cake, beautiful food packaging and extremely polite delivery person. The experience was smooth- from ordering to making payment to enjoying the coastal food. The food is absolutely delicious. Thanks!

The Karavalli experience is a combination of great food, great service and great ambiance. The menu is mouth-watering and the service is a cherry on top. Lunch experience is soothing in the middle of the day, in the middle of the busy bustling city. We were served by Bhupathy, who was wonderful and meticulous.

Visited Karavali for Dinner with friends. The place is within the city, but the ambiance transports you to a mini-trail.
Authentic Mangalore cusine by Chef Ramachandran- would recommend Chicken Ghee Roast with Appam :D

Beautiful place with amazing ambience. Perfect for a date scene. The food was incredibly fresh and authentic. The hospitality is beyond exceptional. Anthony, our butler was extremely hospitable and met all our requests and needs. The chef helped customise our food based on our preferences. This place should be on top of everyone’s To Do List.

Excellent seafood !! We were served by Mr. Anthony and he suggested the prawn ghee roast and an off menu item goan lobster. We tried it with the neer dosa and malabar paratha. I had a wonderful evening.

We suddenly planed to visit this place and called them for availability and Antony picked up the call and told us the booking was full for the day. Later when i requested him he was kind enough to arrange something for us.
We were warmly welcomed Anthony and he was kind enough to give a table of our choice. Since we were new to sea food he suggested us a great dish for starters especially for new ones like me who don’t like the smell of it and it was amazing.
Last but not the least i told him i chose this place for the elneer pyasam and was disappointed that it was unavailable, he got it made especially for us.
Great hospitality Anthony & Ganesh keep it up.

My old time favourite place, Karavalli is a must do every time I visit Blr. Does more for me than just the food- that is superlative! The ambience takes you back to a simpler, nicer, less crowded time, a setting that is reminiscent of the Bangalore of the past… pure nostalgia!
Now for the food it self… I just left it to Anthony, the most helpful and gracious host to design my a la carté lunch menu. He brought me the right portion size of the kane fry, sear fry, and the black pomfret cooked in a banana leaf. It was done to perfection! Amazing! Spicing was mild and balanced. The taste of each fish shone through. With Sundar and Anthony constantly caring for me, while not being at all intrusive, I had a five star experience. The accompanying condiments were beautiful and hit the sweet spot. Coconut chutney, mango chutney, red chutney, and garlic/chilly pickles were done so right, they accompanied every bite I took. Anthony then brought me a special take home gift of the garlic pickle because I liked it so much and Sundar even sent me the recipe by text message instantly. I don’t know of any other restaurant that would be so willing to share their secrets.
A big shout to Mangaluru Ganesh, the chef that made my plate… god bless!
Anthony rounded up my most satisfying afternoon with some pan/beeda and gave me a special take away for my mother. Hosting taken to a new level! Will also say, he adjusted the portion sizes so I could try more variety.
I wish Karavalli the best and hope they continue to provide such gourmet delights to many more. I will be back soon. Two thumbs up! Five stars and more! Thank you!
