The Mariposa is probably one of the best restaurants in Israel, and we were happy to enjoy again its lasting culinary excellence. It's one thing to get to the top, but it's considerably harder to stay there. It was our third visit in a span...of five years and the magic is still there. The decor is elegant and the service flawless. Early around lunchtime, all the tables were already fully booked, and we had to sit at the bar, another sign of the popularity of the place. We had one fish ceviche for a starter, which was good, and sea fish sashimi which was out of this world. Two "interim" plates of seabass cuts in a pomelo salad, and fried squid over a fresh oriental salad were very good as well. For the main dishes, my partner had a piquant curry shrimp, another culinary feat, and I had fried chicken live exquisitely prepared. What a fantastic meal! Mind you, the prices are pretty stiff- but worth every penny. If you are craving a fine dining meal, lunch, or dinner- the Mariposa would be an excellent choice. A tip, they just recently revamped their current menu.More

We enjoyed a special family occasion in their VIP room. The set menu was very varied & all the portions were both tasty & good sized. The first courses gave us multiple choices to partake. The salads were all good sized & enjoyed by us...all. The desserts were delicious We were a party of 16 but unfortunately we felt that the service could have been better. The restaurant was very full that day. This is a restaurant that I would revisit.More

An extremely disappointing dining experience as far as service and atmosphere are concerned. The music, even after the volume was lowered (after 3 requests) was still far too loud for normal conversation. There is ambient background music suitable for a restaurant, and there is music...suitable for a bar, pub or event hall. Unfortunately, Mariposa choose the later. Service too was far below acceptable. The waitress either misunderstood or incorrectly entered our orders and one main course was not delivered (could the loud music have been a contributing factor?). If there were 5 guests, why would she enter 4 orders without question? Additionally, we had to repeatedly request a pitcher of water, had to twice request that salt and pepper be brought to the table, no serving utensil supplied with a big salad that was to be shared between all of us and no individual plates for the appetizers and desserts which were shared. Inexperienced staff and very poor attention to detail, certainly unfitting for a fine restaurant. In their favor, the food was good.More

We’d read all the good reviews and were looking forward to a great meal with special ambience to celebrate an occasion. The first thing we noticed is that music in the restaurant was so loud that we couldn’t comfortably hold a conversation; we even asked...several times if it could be lowered a bit. It felt like we were in a pub rather than what’s billed as an upscale restaurant. Service was very poor, we asked 3-4 times for water and one of the entrees was forgotten, leaving one diner without a meal while all others felt uncomfortable to start eating. Small but significant details like salad and starters for the whole table served without serving utensils, so everyone takes with their own forks. No table “decoration” or charm. The food itself was tasty but not exceptionally so. overall this was disappointing in light of expectations for a special venue and experience . Sorry to say I would not return.More

This is a very good chef restaurant in a beautiful setting overlooking the golf course of Caesarea . Very good fish, meat, seafood and starters. Sitting in and out on the veranda overlooking the golf course . Average price 50-60 USDLRS, per person including beer and...tip . Very recommended.More

Mariposa is thought of as a fancy restaurant (chef restaurant) and thus expectations were high. We decided to go for my birthday lunch on 29/07. Disappointing, was not just a cliche, but rather a reality. 1. Was crowded as hell, serving staff were not wearing...masks and I am sure that they were over the limit for occupancy. 2. Waited 20 min for serving staff to approach us to take our order. 3. The first course and second course were not brought together (highly unprofessional). Moreover, only portions of the meal were brought and then added after asking (for example I ordered the sirloin but only after I requested the gravy did I receive it). 4. In the middle of the meal the electricity fell for a period of about 45 min. The staff did not know what to do. There was no manager (if one was available he/she did not make themselves known) to “manage “ the situation. Issues like this happens but the difference between professionalism and amateurism is the ability to manage the situation. The staff failed in all ways possible. They could have offered a free glass of wine, or a desert, or something but no, with typical Israeli amateurism they acted as everything was ok. 5. When my wife mentioned this to one of the shift managers, she started arguing with her, stating that her opinion was wrong and that the restaurant was correct (if I was the manager I would fire her). 6. Overall, a horrendous experience and highly do not recommend this place.More
