One of the better fish and chips I've had in Korea

Willala fish and chips exterior that looks like it can be in a Southern California seaside area stands out right away in Seongsan among all of the usual raw fish and black pork restaurants. The menu is pretty simple (shark or a local fish) and is easily one of the better fish and chips I’ve had in Korea. The price is similar to what most pub grub places charge which is reasonable considering the quality. There are only three seating areas in the restaurant so we had to wait a bit to get seated. Despite the limited seating, the owner was cool with solo diners taking up entire tables (lot of Korean restaurants refuse solo diners to maximize profit) following Covid spacing recommendations.

What a really good place to have some fantastic fish and chips. The batter is light and fluffy, the fish tasty, and if you're feeling hungry make sure you get the combo. There's also a good little selection of local beers.

Very delicious fish and chips certainly worth eating

After our visit to Seongsan Ilchubong, we had lunch here. Both of us ordered the combo set of 2 pieces of shark fish and 2 pieces of dory fish, prawns and cheese sticks to share. It was the best fish and chips I have tasted as the batter was so well done and crispy. The owner is a one man show, cooking and serving the guests. It is conveniently located near to two bus stops. As the owner can speak English, he kindly explained to me that I should take bus 212 on the same side as this cafe to visit our next destination (Saryeoni Forest) or bus 111 and 112 back to Jeju City. The beautiful toilet outside the cafe is instagrammable. Self-service free hot and cold water is provided at all cafes and restaurants in Jeju.

Fresh, crispy, delicious!!

Love the interior — feels just like a chip shop on the beach. Owner is so friendly, hardworking, and cooks the fish so fresh!! Delicious breading that was super crispy without being greasy. So good!!

Great Little Fish & Chip Shop

Dropped in for a fish supper on New Year's Eve, absolutely delicious. Had John Dory and chips, could have had John Dory & Shark or Shrimps and chips. Great sized portions, with salad and a beer and oranges and very reasonable. The guys running the place were really friendly and the outside loo was like the Tardis and spotless.

Rude service, turned away by worker.

Wonder how this place got a good review. Walked with a family of 8 from seongsan ilchulbung looking forward to a meal of fish and chips. Shop was empty and kids took up some seats. Was rudely chased away by the Korean man working saying there are 4 other customers taking away although there was no one in sight. We were still prepared to wait but he insisted we leave the shop. Not sure how taking away has anything to do with us eating in. Such an embarrassing experience, this is the worst service we had in korea after visiting many times. Hope the reviews can accurately reflect the service. Tourists should avoid.

Excellent fish and chips with traditional malt vinegar. We arrived for a late lunch. Food was freshly prepared, very tasty. Highly recommend eating here.

Outstanding Special!

So many people come to Seongsan to visit Seongsan Ilchulbong, also called ‘Sunrise Peak’, the volcanic tuff ......but how many hunt down a good restaurant or coffee shop? Whilst we have eaten some great seafood, particularly octopus soup, the sound of Fish n Chips on Jeju sounded wonderful .......and it was. In fact the special combo was outstanding, two pieces John Dory, two pieces sharp, chips, five shring and some cheese sticks. Everything was so fresh, and they even had salt n vinegar. Honestly? Outstanding! We may return after our few days on Udo Idland.

Really good food

We were travelling in South Korea for three weeks and although we enjoyed Korean food, we wanted to try something different. Came across this highly rated restaurant on TripAdvisor and it didn’t disappoint. Really good fish and chips. Not cheap, but worth every Won! The owner/chef was super friendly too. Patience required as he’s the sole operator.

Shark & Chips, twice!

Great little place. We visited for lunch. The chefs are certified by the National federation of fish friers in the UK, and you can tell! Johndory and shark fried to perfection, crispy but juicy,with lemon, vinegar, salt, ketchup and tartare depending on your taste. We shared the mixed plate. As soon as we finished, we wanted another. Went for a walk, a beer or two, and returned for dinner. Had the mixed plate again, and yep, it was still delicious. The place was busy with several groups of locals in the evening, and clearly very popular. Highly recommended!
