My friend and I had the pleasure of eating and taking a cooking class with Jenny, the head chef and mom of this fine establishment. The setting is cool, because you eat in what is normally the frontyard of a normal home (I think this is correct). From your table you can see right into the owner's living room and... More

My boyfriend and I ate several times at the Sunshine restaurant during our stay in Hoian. We really liked this restaurant: the host Hoi is incredibly hospitable, and we found the dishes (especially the soup) delicious. If you're looking for an inexpensive homey restaurant in Hoian, this is the place for you...

If you are close to this restaurant I recommend visiting neighboring restaurants before this one...I struggle to understand how anyone could perceive this food as a high standard.we ordered the famous white rose..tasteless lumps of glue and mystery meat paste..followed by tamarind prawns which while having a palatable flavor, were disturbingly swimming in oil with no presentation factor..the steamed white fish... This restaurant flaunts its good reviews with glowing written notes from customers placed under clear glass table tops. So the contrast with our actual experience was almost comical. We were two of only a handful of customers but it took a long time before a young man appeared with a menu. Our initial order of one large beer with two... More

We did not have a good time. The restauant has six tables but it took them a long time to take our order. After they did, our beer didn't arrive until about 20 minutes had passed. The food itself took over an hour and they got our order wrong, bringing us tofu instead of the squid we'd ordered. Apparently it... More

Went for lunch and had the fried wontons. They were sweet and sour and very tasty. The owner was very nice and recommended them. Her daughter and niece were Also sweet young ladies. After I finished eating I talked for close to an hour with the daughter about traveling, school, life, culture... It was a great conversation (I was the... More

we ate at this delightful restaurant twice: 16 March (one couple) and 17 March (two couples). The restaurant is set about 15 min walk back from the "main drag" of significantly more expensive restaurants. It is within the enclosed area (which Westerners would call the driveway) of the owner Hoi (Mrs or Ms?) who is an absolute delight. My guess... More

My fiancée and I went here ,mainly because I didn't want to blindly follow advice from Lonely planet. Some people had suggested on FB (way back in Jan ) that the food here is tasty. We weren't disappointed, their spring rolls were paper thin and the food was simple and perfectly spiced.I particularly liked their soft noodles with veggies it... More

I have just returned to my hotel after eating at this restaurant and felt compelled to record my experience while all was fresh in my mind. I can only say that luckily we enjoy a comedy because the evening was a comedy of events. When in any developing nation we should all expect some hiccups and lower standards of service and... More
