This is run by Vietnamese people with hearing impairments. The emphasis is on tea, but they do small things to eat and other drinks. The tea tasted great and came in a traditional pot with a strainer and small cup. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was extremely peaceful, a refuge from the bustling streets of Hoi An.

I had the tea tasting set and the cookie tasting plate. Both (particularly the cookie plate) were excellent value for money and very tasty. This cafe employees people who are deaf so provides little blocks to ask for things (hot water, bill ect) and cards to write questions on, so there are absolutely no communication problems. Word to the wise... More

Just love this tea house. A very different experience dining here. With a policy of 'whispers' or silence, you get to enjoy your drinks in a most serene surrounding. This honours the silent world which the staff inhabit. The drinks are served beautifully- a real pleasure to be spoilt here. Prices reasonable. I would suggest sitting out the back so... More

This was an amazing experience - not just for beautiful service and fabulous tea and coffee, but also for the serenity of the venue. The staff were efficient, calm and respectful, and I would definitely go back to support them.

A tranquil place to go and have a break away from the bustling streets of Hoi Ann. Many of the staff are either deaf or dumb and whispering/speaking quietly adds to the calmness of the atmosphere. They serve good coffee, either Vietnamese or Western styles as well as a selection of teas. Reaching Out is a local community project aimed... More

We came here unaware that it was a silent tea shop! It was a nice change of pace from the busy Hoi An streets. Everyone who works there was really friendly and helpful and we felt right at home. The tea was great and so were the little ginger cookies.

This is a quiet cafe, where the patrons are asked to talk softly, and whisper. Many (all?) of the baristas/waitresses are deaf, and by keeping quiet, this place becomes an inclusive cafe, where all can enjoy a cup of coffee and a cookie. The prices are higher than other coffee shops, but I think that's to be expected when it's... More

Description
The Reaching Out Teahouse, a second location for our social enterprise, was created because we wanted to share authentic Hoi An (which means peaceful meeting) through the tradition of drinking tea and coffee with friends and visitors. Tranquility is assured in our ancient house furnished with antiques. Our servers are all speech and hearing impaired and the joy of silence is reflected throughout the experience. Customers enjoy the high quality of our teas and coffees as well as the gracious service. All of our tableware is hand crafted in the style of the imperial families of Hue and is available at our workshop and retail store a two-minute walk from the teahouse. In addition to ceramics, we feature embroidered tablecloths and unique accessories. Fair trade operating principles ensure that our disabled artisans and servers receive fair wages and work under safe conditions. We invite you to experience our teahouse and to let us know about your experience. We learn to make improvements to our products and services through customer feedback and good reports encourage others to find their way to our shop to enjoy the silence.
