We stopped in for soba. The place is very inviting. The server (owner?) was very helpful in explaining the procedure to eat the soba in the dipping sauce and the tempura. Everything was simply delicious. We would highly recommend this place!

We had lunch here and ordered the Tenzaru soba (cold soba w dipping sauce and mixed tempura) served w fresh self grated wasabi. So fresh and the noodles had a nice bite. The horse meat grilled on hot stone and grilled duck was tasty too. Buckwheat tea was nice. I bought some dried soba and dipping sauce to go. I... More

The soba comes in very nice presentation, and the taste is unforgetable even for the high japanese standard. THey give you the real wasabi and you have to grate it... was my first experience and the wasabi is soooo different and nice :)

We had our lunch there on 4th December after depositing our luggages at Matsumoto Station. It takes approximately 5 – 6 minutes to reach here from Matsumoto Station. Do note that the restaurant entrance is at the side street, please slide the door to enter the restaurant. Please request for English menu and they will be glad to serve. The... More

Heard a lot about this place and decided to give it a try. It was just in the next street beside our hotel which made it incredibly convenient. We all had hot soba and tried the grilled horse steaks.

Couldn't have found a better dinner place. Best soba I've ever had! All dishes were perfect- we ordered a variety of cold and hot soba and tempura. Appreciated the tea, pickled vegies, and wasabi like no other (so fresh). The lady brought soba yu (water used in boiling the soba) at the end of our meal and asked to mix... More

The soba is made on site (next door) during the day from local buckwheat. Quaint setting with fine ambience. Notable diners include members of the royal family. Well known in the area and very reputable. Soba is really delicious and one can buy packed dried soba. Came to this restaurant in 2007 and still as delicious as back then. The... More

We wanted a quick hot meal before our train journey back to Hakuba. We were served hot tea immediately which was greatly appreciated. The soba & tempura was simply awesome, tempura was crispy not oily. Service was great. Would have loved to stay longer & enjoy the ambience in this little gem of a restaurant but had to rush off... The cold soba was fantastic! It was chewy and refreshing. Best eaten with freshly grated wasabi and dipped into their dipping sauce. Matsumoto is known for their soba and wasabi, so you've got to try soba if you visit Matsumoto. We order other side dishes. Their tempura prawn was overdone, although the other dishes were okay. We went to the... More
