As we visited Otaru during the state of emergency period a lot of shops including Kitakaro had limited fresh baked goods. So we didn't get to taste their famous cream puffs. But the ice cream was the best we have ever tasted in our Hokkaido...trip So rich, creamy and the milk taste is just so amazing. My kids had at least 3 cones each in our 2 days in Otaru. We bought a lot of souvenirs from kitakaro from the airport as we didn't want to lug it around.More

My wife and I found the Kitakaro shop at New Chitose Airport when we arrived and sought it out when we left. Their cream and custard buns are simply outstanding, beautifully whipped cream, with little or no added sugar, delectably light custard all wrapped up...in a light and fluffy sponge, again , not sweet. World class stuff, well done.More

This is the other place to come to for cakes in Otaru shopping street. We only came here to try the cake roll, as that's the famous specialty. We bought the pack, 5 for only 810¥ (S$10). We tried it later at our Airbnb home...and we went back there subsequently to buy more. It's as good as its reputation !More

Read about this place so it was on our list of must stops. It was pretty hot in the middle of the day so the plan was, get a cream puff which is what they are known for only if there’s indoor seating. There’s a...couple counters where four people can sit. Two people left so we were happy. It would’ve been too hot to sit outside and eat. We tried two different kinds of cream puffs. Both were delicious and light. We didn’t purchase anything from the store. It was pretty crowded. We did get to sample stuff. We also visited Le Tao down the street and although this place was good, if we could only go back to one, it would be Le Tao.More

This is a famous sweet shop like Le Toa where located near Le Tao at Sakaimachi shopping street. Most customers like its soft cream, jumbo pie chou and cake set. It is value for money and time to be there.

Had the cheese and original choux cream, wouldn't have it again. The cheese one doesn't have much cheese flavour. It has a nice break-like chew but it was very doughy with too little choux (same as the choux cream filling). Original choux cream was worse,...flaky pastry puff but it was dry, hard and felt a little greasy and heavy crust. Choux wasn't full as well so there were empty air spaces and didn't give the satisfaction when you bite into it. You're better off having 7-11 choux cream, as which is pocket friendly yet so much custard filling, softer puff and tastes good!!More

The cream puffs served at Kitakaro is arguably the best in Hokkaido. The pastry is firm and fresh and yet bites easily. The best part was the fresh cream which was generous filled into the puffs. Very light and flavourful. They sell out by mid...noon. The eclairs are different from the usual as the bread is more chewy than usual ones. Pleasantly special. Ice cream is rich and milky.More

We were spoilt by the choices of food available in this shop. There are samples for you to try except for cream puffs and rock melon jellies. The different flavours of rice crackers taste great! I recommends Salmon & Shrimp flavours. The cream puffs can’t...keep for long as it expires 3 days after manufacturing date.More

Was only able to get one of those puffs that I have no idea how to pronounce, all the varieties looked good. The one that I had at 197 yen was excellent as well. Due to food crawl around Otaru we can only eat a...little at each famous place. This one was after a sumptuous seafood don at the Otaru Station, then bean pastry, then ice cream, then Italian coffee, then this, then.....you got the idea.More

Went to buy a cream puff as usual! Good, creamy puff - tasted the same as I remembered it. Also tasted the baumkuchen - while I am usually not a fan, but theirs was good, dense and moist.
