85 year old institution. Coffee was good and the egg puffs were ok, we also had curry mee and wanton mee, well organised and efficient, got to marvel that they are still at it all these years

WHAT A DISASTER!!! PLS PLS PLS DON’T BELIEVE THEIR 4STARS RATINGS CON!! BEWARE; THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH OVERCHARGING. THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE - THEIR BAKED SIEW PAU WAS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST I HAVE EVERY HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! IT WAS DRY & TASTELESS....THEIR KUIH TALAM TASTED STALE AND FRANKLY U FEEL LIKE U ARE WERE EATING FLOUR. THEIR KUIH BINGKA WAS SO STALE & TASTELESS. BUT THE ABSOLUTE “ICING ON THE CAKE” WAS THEIR FEMALE INDONESIAN WAITRESS : SHE WAS PUSHY AND ABSOLUTELY RUDE. BEWARE - SHE ENDS UP SERVING YOU DRINKS THAT YOU DIDN’T EVEN ORDER, & OVER CHARGES U FOR THEM. SHE ALSO DOES HIGH SPEED MENTAL CALCULATION OF THE TOTAL BILL, AND OVERCHARGED US. SHE KEPT INSISTING THAT SHE BE PAID FIRST, INSPITE OF OUR ASKING HER TO GIVE US A BREAKDOWN BEFORE WE PAID THE BILL. BASED ON THIS M.O., I WONDER HOW MANY TOURISTS AND OTHER LOCAL PATRONS THEY HAVE BEEN OVERCHARGING OVER THE YEARS.More

We had lots of the famous white coffee while in Ipoh, and by far and away the best was at this old school Chinese coffee shop. The coffee is rich - almost malty - and beautifully balanced in acidity and sweetness. It’s just exceptionally good....This should be your choice if you find yourself in Ipoh and want to have a classic, superb cup of the famous white coffee.More

When I want to grab great coffee , look no further than this place.. Their coffee is out of this world... Starbucks, Coffee bean can't even compare to the coffee made from this small little café that is packed with locals. Couldn't get a table...on my visit and also there was no parking so had to order coffee via takeout.. first sip and I was in heaven.. it was so smooth, rich and simply unforgettable. Grab the coffee again before I leave Ipoh to KL.More

I have been there several times. I would go there whenever I visit Ipoh. Their coffee still tastes the same today. A cup of iced coffee is best to quench your thirst under the scorching sun that you can get in Malaysia (almost) the whole...year round.More

A traditional coffee shop (kopitiam) around Ipoh town area. The wanton mee in this shop is exquisite (Maybe I'm quite hungry at that moment), the wanton mee are chewy, the cha siu (roasted barbeque pork) was just at the right amount of juicy and nice,...as for the wanton was what i expected. Its whole set was just nice. Of course, you have gotta try the egg tarts, the bread with eggs (Roti Goyang), Kaya Puff. and also the famous caramel eggs custard. I didn't manage to try the chee cheong fun as it was closed that day. Lastly, the drinks, I have ordered Coffee, White Coffee, Milo, and Cham (milk tea + coffee), IMO, Cham is the best drink I drank. The amount of the mixing is exactly just magnificent, because a lot of places, whenever I ordered Cham, it will have something like too much milk tea, or too much coffee, or the whole drink doesn't have much of the taste of each. Sin Yoon Long is right opposite of Nam Heong, although it still needed to be queue (but not as much as nam heong)... but the foods in the shop does not disappoint me. Oh ya, friendly reminder, the speed of the serving is excellent.More

Seems like many TA writers enjoy their coffee here. Taking into account that I’m very much a squeamish person, I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere here. The chopsticks were a tad greasy. So I was already uncomfortable before the first bite. Is it me or do...people clean their chopsticks with hand sanitizer? From my photo, our char siew and roasted pork didn’t look appetizing. It wasn’t tasty. Maybe even dull. Noodles the same. (we wondered why the meat was served on polystyrene?) But there is good news! We bought many of their baked goods to go. Kaya puff, salted egg with chicken floss buns, egg tarts and curry puff. These were so so yummy. Nothing beats their baked goods. Not even the guys across the street.More

The coffee in the 3 famed coffee shops (kopitiam) have their own followers. If you are from KL, you would find Nam heong has branches elsewhere in PJ namely Uptown etc and Old Town Coffee, their spin offs. for Sun Yoon Loong, which claims to...be 1st Ipoh white coffee pioneer, they have a branch in Aman Suria (operated by family member) they offer same coffee and egg on top of toast so whatever Ipoh s fame foods are, you can find branches in KL and PJ esp white coffee. You can also find wat tan hor at Tuck Kee in Uptown and tauge chicken in Jalan Gasing and PJ old town. so is the same quality of food found in the KL /pJ branches ? Answer : no ! Ipoh is the best !More

Love the coffee here as it is thick and fragrant. The kaya toast is toasty and full of kaya. We always come here when we are in Ipoh. It is just a nice place to get your coffee fix.

We had coffee and kaya toast here. I like the kaya. It is thick but not too sweet. You can buy a small cup home for RM3. The shop sells egg sponge cake, sliced and coated with kaya for RM1.80 per piece. But it sold...out relatively quickly. The good thing about the coffee shops along this stretch of road is that you can order food (only food, not drinks) from any other coffee shops in the vicinity. The food seller will deliver the food to you if s/he's not busy or you can wait and bring the food to the coffee shop where you bought the drinks. So, we ordered the prawn noodle from Nam Heong opposite and loved it. We were recommended the chee cheong fun in Sin Yoon Loong but we didn't had the chance to try it. We were informed that the chee cheong fun vendor has decided that the weekend crowds were too much for him and he now only opens on weekdays.More
