Taste of food was 5/10. I guess I had tried menate before so food here a bit like okay lah, fun to try. They charge 10% for service, which is quite over pricing.. Im booking table for 2 with deco, which rm 80 for it,...which I personally feel the deco totally look like rm20 worth, got candle but they didn't bother to light it up. Deco something I can set it up from my home. It's like thats it all? I paid rm 80 only for this.. Meehh what a waste of money. Given they charge for service they should come and take our picture instead of we call for them. And the serving time way toooo slow, I'm finished my steak in 5 mins. Damn too hungry. I won't come again. Its fun to try if you guys got some $$ to spend on.More

This is the first time we had a very nice evening dinner with our friends in Penang. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We arranged a last minute surprise birthday event and they arrange it accordingly more than our expectations. Ms Syafina are very helpful...to assist our event. Pakcik Hashim who playing viola in this restaurant is freaking the best ever!!!. He suppose end shift at 9.30pm but he's wiling to stay a bit longer just for sake of our last minute event. Love this place and will return in no time!!!More

Stopped by for a weekday lunch, decided to go based on Trip Advisor & Facebook positive comments - & the fact that they have a lot of meat dishes. Arrived & SOP'd in at 12:46pm. The female staff sorted through the menu clip boards, chose...us 2 & led us to a table at the back of the cafe - an air conditioned area where 3 other tables of 4, 6 & 8 (+ 2 kids) people were seated. The 2 of us had a table that would easily seat 4. We were in direct line of a rather cold a/c unit. As we looked through the menu, all we saw were drinks, desserts and set menus at RM59 each/RM118 for 2 pax. We only wanted a main meal & drink. The male wait staff was busy sorting drinks & meals for the other tables & the female staff didn't return within a reasonable time to see how we were doing. When she did return, we explained we wanted a main dish & she said it was all in the 4 course set menu. After repeatedly saying we didn't want that, she went to find us an a la carte menu. This took about 10 minutes. Finally, we got the menu, & made our order at 1:08pm (yes, we looked at our watches). Our watermelon juices arrived promptly, served by the male staff while the other diners received parts of their meals. We were getting colder, & our meal (Balinese chicken) was served to us at 1:43pm - almost an hour after we arrived. The vegetables were warm, but cooled quickly in the a/c blast. The chicken chop was nothing special, & all the spices were on the loose skin, not infused into the chicken. All was placed in a large bowl (I think all meals & soups were served in the same size bowls) & the portion was small. We ate quickly as we do like to eat warm/hot food. By 2pm we had paid & left. Very disappointed with the experience. Both the male & female wait staff have anatomy issues - both had their masks slung under their chins, so their noses & mouths were uncovered - they did not pull up the masks at any time we saw them - especially when dealing with the customers. By total difference, the barista/drinks men & the cashier (male) had their masks worn correctly. A very disappointing visit & we certainly won't go back. 1st impressions are important to us, especially in Penang with such a diverse F&B range.More

Both meals were served with a good size Rib eye steak, with all the goodies on the side along with fresh green beans. The steak were cooked to perfection. Highly recommended The "SARANG GRILLED CHICKEN SALAD" Superb😊 kudos to the Chef's and Team. After dinner we both...had dessert. We both had the tiramisu. Both were generous and excellent. Our server Shamin was most attentive making sure our entire experience went well and we were happy. Some might look at the menu and think the entrées to be expensive, but you must take into consideration you are being served a full meal. This is not like other steak houses were you have to order everything as an extra it's a set menu. From start to finish this was the best meal, the best steak I had.We will definitely return.More

Penang is famous for its abundant caffes and restaurants, and The Safe Room is one of the best. The stafff are great. The foods are great. We had Garupa Fish n Chips and Osaka Miso Lambs, both are great. Too bad we could not have...its signature, Coconut Ice Cream. It’s because fresh coconuts were not available. We’ll be back for sure, especially for the coconut ice cream...oh yeah, they have a RM 500 menu called Tomahawk Steak. According to the staff, it’s a 1.6kg steak enough for 4 persons....should be good to tryMore
