My wife and I stumbled upon this place and called for a ressy. The manager sat us inside and mentioned the inside seating was full. The place is beautiful. She took care of our drinks and recommended a few choices All which we choose She...came back a little later and said an outside table opened up and she moved us into a semi private area with a wood burning fire place. She also brought out a candle to bring the ambience to a new level!! Food was amazing Drinks perfect Desert amazing Even the owner can out to greet us We are foodies from New England This place is a mustMore

We visited this place twice. Let me start by saying my average rating is not for the food. We were greeted and seated by a lady who at first hand did not seem to have any attention for us and this did not improve during...the night. There was another lady there exactly the same thing not attentive at all. With a service like this I would not come back but because of the good reviews we read we told our self this must have been a bad night and we decided to try it out after a couple of days. This simply to confirm that the 2 ladies working in this place gave us the worst service we experienced in our 11 day stay in panama. There was one skinny tall guy in the place that seems to be the only one trying to please the customers thumbs up but for the 2 ladies 2 thumbs down. On the food quality we had nothing to complain all items served during both of our visits were very good to excellent. Really good dishes it is too bad this experience was spoiled by their service.More

Were delighted this restaurant was almost part of the accomodations we were staying at. Seated promptly tho we didn't have reservations and many tables were full. Server was not particularly warm, but she was efficient all the way through to presentation of the check when...requested. There was a nice tortilla /salsa 'appetizer' (free) presented ...meal included a salad (as i recall?). Husband ordered Seafood pasta and i ordered pork shoulder. We also ordered a lovely san felipe malbec$20. The food was AWESOME, loved both my husband's as well as my pork shoulder. Throughout, the atmosphere was pleasant, tasteful and quiet so that we could enjoy one another. UNFORTUNATELY, a bickering couple were seated next table over & they apparently knew owner /server (she was different from our own), so we couldn't complain w/o probably being reseated. Bill, with tip, was $67.31 ... about on a par w/ several of the restaurants we'd eaten at but of a far higher quality/value.More

We were so excited to dine there but unfortunately the experience was a bit disappointing. This restaurant is catering to the big groups and they are definitely understaffed so prepare to wait quite a long time for service. We were greeted at the door by...a friendly lady and shown to our table. Overall the food was good but I would not order the fish it was very salty and on the dry side. They were out of chocolate cheesecake so my daughter ordered rum and raising ice cream, the little did we know it was drenched in real rum. When we asked they confirmed that but did not do anything beside saying sorry, not even offering a regular ice cream for the child.More

Last night around 25 of us celebrated a friend of mine wife’s surprise birthday party. Several menu options were presented for the quests to choose from…….good diversity. The meals were exceptional especially the Catch of the Day….Mahi-mahi…..all served on time and were professionally prepared by...Ben and Chris and the Mesa Azul staff. The service was excellent and special mention to Alex….you’re the best! Thanks from all for a great evening!More

My husband and I just signed the papers to purchase our new home in Alto Boquete. We were still had a little bit of anxiety hanging on... We decided to eat out as a way to relax. Glad we chose Chef Ben's restaurant. Everything was...relaxing, complete perfection! You walk in to an ambiance which, in my opinion, creates an atmosphere of elegant comfort - from the "blue bottle wall," leather couches, lava table, fire places, music, lighting etc - someone paid attention to the details... We were welcomed by smiling faces and seated promptly. Everyone we met spoke both English and Spanish (after our day of banker's, lawyer's, realtors we were in need of not having to translate as we are not proficient in Spanish, YET). Our server, Alexander, was very pleasant, brought us something to drink in great time, then went over the special and discussed the menu with us as we had questions. As we noticed Chef Ben at another table discussing a different menu we waived, he took a few minutes and came to our table to explain the concept of Mesa Azul. "The blue table" is the Chef's table where he cooks your dinner in front of you (my thoughts were Panamanian Teppanyaki) on an open flame grill. During our meal, if Alexander, our server, was busy at "the blue table," either another server (Lala) or bartender (Mario) would check on us. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, which was served with cheddar biscuits and a wonderfully seasoned butter, sheer perfection! My husband ordered seafood pasta and I had a beef dish cooked perfectly (I find myself using perfection and perfect quite a bit in this review,😍). Tasted absolutely amazing. Only wish we'd have taken photos before we started eating. After eating and becoming quite full, my husband still found room for dessert and was glad he did... The order - triple chocolate cheesecake... Again, the theme of this review, perfection! We definitely will be back!!! The included photos are of the couch/lava rock table, Chef Ben at the blue table, and my husband enjoying his meal.More

I have been to Mesa Azul many times and have enjoyed wonderful food. Tonight was no exception. Chef Ben had a chicken and dumpling special…absolutely delicious!! Mesa Azul has one of the best atmospheres in Boquete! Beautiful lighting!

I think they will be closed Christmas Eve but they will be open Christmas Day and will have a buffet dinner. I know because we have reservations for that.
