Went to dinner tonight and it was good as always. However, costs of everything keep’s going up and up. Two beers, 10 wings and 2 burgers with tip $100 bucks. The Town Tavern is a nice business and I have never had a bad meal there. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. But the cost is getting crazy. Meaning the cost is getting crazy everywhere and families will not be able to go out anymore. If $100 feeds two, try taking a family of five out to eat. :(

Yes, pretty good comfort food and a very nice bar area. First impression was that there was plenty of safe and close parking and approaching the restaurant I can remark it looked very inviting with the well cared for landscaping and potted plants outside. Our wait was only 15 minutes, very acceptable, so we sat at the bar for our drink. Specials on the menu were just about gone by 6:45 so get there early if that’s your preference. I had the baked haddock dinner, excellent, companion had the “Averill Park Warrior” burger. She enjoyed the size of it and it was cooked as requested. Both meals with drinks was under $40.00. Nice!
Come on Averill Parker’s, get out there and celebrate life.

Good food, cool atmosphere and service was also good despite being extraordinarily busy. Stopped in for lunch on Columbus Day and place was packed - wings were fantastic and rest of food tasty. Unique place, we really enjoyed it.

We are on vacation staying in Hancock, MA,and the front desk recommended The Towne Tavern. We are so glad we listened. Paul, our server, was phenomenal...quick to our every need even though he was busy with other tables. The menu is extensive with everything from appetizers to salads with homemade dressings, paninis to burgers, pasta dishes to chicken and beef main courses. We settled on the chicken nachos—huge and delicious—and the BBQ platter with ribs and pulled pork. I couldn’t decide which BBQ sauce to pick so Paul brought all 4 to the table so I could try all of them. There are plenty of sides to pick from...I made the great decision to get a double order of the homemade smashed potatoes. But don’t eat all of your dinner—-you MUST leave room for one of the homemade desserts. My parents selected the blueberry pie a la mode; while we would have never guessed this was a “dessert” place, it was probably the BEST blueberry pie we’ve ever tasted. When my dad asked where they got it from, we were told it was made there! We would highly recommend The Towne Tavern and we plan on returning before we leave for home.

This place originally had been a blacksmith shop in the 1800s. FYI, The Towne Tavern was a runner-up for best wings, chowder, & also best restaurant in West Sand Lake/Averill Park in the Capital Region Living magazine's 2022 Bestie Awards for food and drink. They smoke or roast their own meats & make their dressings & BBQ sauces. In the room by the bar, if you look up, there's an open space above the ceiling where you'll see many animals & birds, preserved by taxidermy. Note The Towne Tavern has separate lunch & dinner menus, which include, among other items, wings & pizza. I had the best "Piled High Pork" sandwich I'd ever had! The only negative is that it was messy to eat. Regardless - YUM!

My coworker recommended this place, sad it was good. I tried it with my family, and was horrible experience. Way too much noise for the kids, waited HOURS for my food, and the pizza was burnt to a crisp. We placed our order at 7:50pm and finally got the food at 8:40. Finished eating at 9 and were home at 10. Turns out also the waitress was screwing up other people’s orders too! All in all, I was not impressed. Horrible service, not a family environment, and the food was not that good.

We went to our brother's favorite watering hole for their anniversary on Fri 4/14/23 for dinner. Busy night but we didn't have to wait long for our table on the deck. Our server was Caitlin and she brought menus and took our drink orders. Full bar w/ a good selection of local craft beers.
Open 7 days a week 11:30am-9:pm. See website for their regular daily specials. Wed's special is in-house smoked pork ribs that come w/ their 4 house bbq sauces - $1.50ea. They are excellent.
The Towne Tavern offers a wide variety of pub grub - smoked wings, build-your-own pizza, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches from $11-16, And a large selection of dinner entrees from $18-25, steaks $27-30.
Sister-in-law had usual 1/2 rack St. Louis style bbq ribs w/ 2 sides ($22.59) w/ the four bbq sauce choices. Sweet, sticky, sloppy just the way they should be eaten. My bride had the baked haddock w/ cracker crumb topping w/ rice pilaf & veg ($21.59). Well prepared & hot to the table. I had their unique picante french onion soup-tomato & beef broth stock ($7.50) and the "Mom's Meatloaf sandwich w/pepper jack on a ciabatta roll ($13). I think it maybe more that just ground chuck, brisket maybe? Very good w/ the addition of their spicy Jack Daniel's bbq sauce. I missed writing down what brother had but he demolished it LOL.
The owner came by to say hello to the "regulars" after the dinner rush was over. And to thank them for their steady patronage.
A nice evening out at very comfortable neighborhood tavern.
Thank you.

We enjoyed our meals at the Towne Tavern very much!
I started with the Roasted Red Pepper Bisque, and chose the Mac-N-Cheese with Pulled Pork added. My husband had the meatloaf and smashed potatoes. Everything was so good. Even with the many cheeses, the Mac-N-Cheese was a little bland by itself, however, with the pork added, it had that missing seasoning/tartness and was SO GOOD. The servings were HUGE, so even though dinner takes a bite out of your wallet, you have left-overs! We both ate another meal out of what we brought home with us.

Our first here Wed 2/16/22 6pm with relatives who are local and the Towne Tavern is one of their go to places. Rustic setting along side of a creek. We had reservations for four for dinner. Good thing we had a reservation because this place is packed with locals every evening. Full bar & full tables. Seem to have enough staff. We were seated within five minutes. Waitress (missed name, school teacher) took our drink orders. a little slow from the bartender, but not a problem for us. One drink was incorrect but quickly fixed. Full bar offers 23 beers in bottles & cans, 7 regular & other rotating craft beers, 25 wines, N/As, and sodas.
Towne Tavern leads w/ their in house dry rubbed smoked ribs & brisket. Wed is BBQ rib night - $1.50ea. They come to the table dry w/ four choices of their house BBQ sauces. We ordered six ahead of our dinners - pretty good. Baked haddock dinner served w/ salad & rice($20) was very good, but my bride didn't care for the flavored rice. Our local friends had their go to sandwiches - beef brisket ($12.50) & a reuben ($12).
As this was my first visit I wanted to try something new to me. So I tried this house specialty soup - Picante Onion Soup Our Signature - A southwestern twist on a French classic, a rich tomato and Beef based broth chock full of caramelized onions topped with a crisp crouton and Jalapeno Pepper Jack cheese, browned under the broiler $6.99. Certainly different, but in my opinion, this hybrid didn't combine the best of either soup. My dinner was the special - Towne Tavern's Cincinnati style chili ($18) - this is a beef chili made w/ a mole sauce served over spaghetti topped w/ meted cheese. A very good mole that was hidden under way too much cheese. But the mole was a winner.
Current hours: Monday, Wednesday through Sunday:
Lunch 11:30 am - 4:00 pm
Dinner 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Bar open 11:30 am - 11:00 pm or later
*Closed on Tuesdays
Reservations are highly recommended.
So for our first visit it was a good recommendation by our local hosts. We will visit again soon for a second review. Thank you.

We visit the Towne Tavern frequently and are never disappointed! There's a great variety on the menu and also daily specials. Brianna, the manager, and frequently our server, is always pleasant and super efficient! The bar area can no longer be as jovial as it once was, but it's still always fun to eat there! We always enjoy the deck in the warmer weather, too.

I really want to support the Town Tavern and other independent, small business during these difficult times. However, after placing my order via phone, with a pickup time, I waited 35-40 minutes to receive it.
With those kids of wait times I may as well have dined-in which is what I was trying to avoid.
I don't know what the problem is but if the TT wants to survived they need to get their take-out business buttoned up.
Our food was mediocre and the order of fries just thrown in a bag was a bit off-putting. Even McDonalds puts your fries in something.

Highly recommended from a local friend. Went on a Sat night around 5:30 & were seated at a high-top table right at the mens room door. Placed our order of a NY strip steak & the combo pulled pork & ribs. When ordering the waitress offer onions, mushrooms &/or blue cheese for the steak. When bill arrived, there was a $2 up charge FOR EACH. Servers should always tell you when there's an upcharge.Steak was just okay, ribs were cold & very little flavor & pulled pork was TOO much mustard flavor (And I like mustard).
The worst part is we waited for 90 mins for our food from the time we placed the order until it arrived.
We questioned the waitress 3 times & kept getting same "I just checked, it's coming right up". She gave us 3 pieces of undercooked corn bread to appease us. My husband had to get up & go find some to find out what was going on. He finally said we were walking out in 5 min (he's very generous). Meals were rushed out & it tasted like it too.
Waitress apologized & handed us a dessert smashed into a paper coffee cup to take away.
Would NOT recommend & will never return
WORST EXPERIENCE!!

We ate here just before a performance at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts. The food and service are excellent. It is basic menu with sufficient entrees for vegetarians who also eat fish. All dishes are prepared to order. The quantity and quality of our meals was perfect.

I always heard this was a very good spot but only got there today for the first time. Really nice interior , clean and you can see they invested money to make it a nice place. The receptionist and waiter were great, very attentive to us. Refills etc.... Great extensive menu from wings to steaks. My wife had a fancy burger of sorts and I had the wings, hot buffalo garlic parm , hot they were. Everything was great and it has a great bar. We will be back. Great spot.
