We wanted to try one of the best local restaurants in SPB so we tried Gogol on our first night. Can be found in a corner next to St. Isaac along Malaya Morskaya, situated right in the center of famous landmarks (Kazan Cathedral, Nevsky... Etc). Ambience, perfect! Food, extra ordinary! We had Borsch with goose and sour cream for starter.... More

We were recommended to eat here by our local tour guide. She recommended the Chicken Kiev as one of the best she had ever tasted. We agree, it was very tasty and perfectly cooked in the bread/crumb batter that held the juices and garlic perfectly. Apparently the vension is their signature dish which is also good. We had the caviar... More

Very cozy restaurant, at excellent location. Food was very good, good variety and excellent quality. Goid selection of wines and given the location, style and quality, very reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient. Recommended!

Centrally located and though in a mid-high to high end of places, prices can be really "down-to-earth", so you will definitely enjoy it! Make sure to book in advance for the weekend, otherwise odds are that there's no availability. Interiors are really interesting, reflecting classical Russian atmosphere. Food is awesome, and they have a very interesting range of typical Russian... More

Very good food in a nice restaurant. Excellent service, but the portions could have been larger. Remeber to reserve table in the weekends, even in low season.

We went to this restaurant 2 nights in a row it was so good. Is good for couples and good for a family - youngest child being 13 years of age. Meal was exceptional. We had a lot of the menu given there were 5 of us and everything we had was great. The pancakes with caviar, dumplings, petit pie,... More

Perfect place to try typical Russian food, inside an Old style Russian style furnished restaurant, you can try all type of Russian cuisine. Staff is super nice, prices absolutely affordable! I would absolutely suggest!

The borscht is exceptional. For main, I had veal which was positively fruity with the sauce it came with. The chocolate cake was small but exquisite, a delicately balanced piece of richness. Most importantly, Gogol's overcoat hangs in the doorway. A pianist plays mournfully through the evening. The waiters speak English fluently. I recommend booking. We tried to walk in... More

The place is charming, decorated like the inside of a house. The food is surprisingly good (I had the crab salad and the salmon, both very fresh) and the price is extremely (surprisingly!) reasonable. We had a wonderful evening. I highly recommend going.

Homely Russian meals. The historic house with several dining rooms to choose from. Attentive English-speaking staff. Live piano music.
