We ordered 3 dishes. 3 of them were badly cooked. Especially the piglet, it was smelly. This shows that it's not fresh at all. I will not recommend any of my friends to come here at all. This place is more like a tourist " a must visit" restaurant only but definitely not the food quality.

We used to yum cha in the HK Lian Xiang Lou so we decided to visit its very first branch in China. But it was soooo disappointing. Poor food quality and poor service. 2-4pm is their afternoon tea session but some of its most famous dimsum were sold out already when we arrived at 2:30pm. They even forgot our orders... More

My tour group stopped here for dim sum a little after lunch time and I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I was told Cantonese food is similar to what we eat as Chinese food in the west. To me, dim sum was small dumplings with either beef or shrimp filling. What I got was a buffet style, food... More

Chanced upon this restaurant while walking down Shangxiajiulu. We ordered a garlic steam white clams (almost every other table was having this so we thought it might be delicious), fish maw soup, under the bridge spicy prawns and broccoli fried with garlic. The clams were served first and it was delicious! The clams were fresh, the garlic was cooked just... More

I traveled here alone, can't read Chinese and only speak very little. The menu was in Chinese but luckily they provided menu with photos after some confusion. The food was amazing. I don't like prawn, but I really like the ha kau. That was the highlight. If you want to try different kind of snack without ordering too many, try... More

I have tried both Lian Xiang Lou and Lian Xiang Ku in HK, thinking that their pioneer and original main restaurant in Guangzhou should be the best, but it has proved me wrong. I reached there after 2 pm, dim sum served with no taste, some even not well heated, service is poor, and most disappointed is the environment is too modern... More

After our tour guide gave us a huge spiel about us stopping here later int he day and having lunch at Guangzhou's oldest and most famous restaurant (The Loutus Restaurant), it seems from reading on our return this place is probably just another eatery claiming to be the oldest and was probably just a friend / relative of the tour... We enjoyed the food here. The dishes were seasoned well and the items fresh. We had dim sum plus other dishes. Dishes of note include tofu skin and vegetables and shrimp dumplings. The restaurant is located on a historic shopping street. There is also a bakery/store on the first floor selling baked delicacies which we also purchased and enjoyed.

I came to this rstn few years ago. They are over 100 yrs old, famous for their mooncake, then later into Chinese pastries and dim sum. It was full house even I came early in the morning, but there is where you can feel their local yum cha culture. What disappoint me this time is, I bought 2 packs of... More
