Kani Honke in Susukino is where you can eat crab boiled, grilled, sukiyaki, vinegared, raw, in soup, casserole. You can eat the whole crab, have a kaiseki all crab dinner, sushi , chawanmushi, and in other forms that I haven't mentioned. You can eat tarabagani(king...crab), zuwaigani(queen or snow crab), kegani(hairy crab), and they all taste a little different. What they all have in common is: they all taste great!!!More

A local friend recommended us here because this is where she takes her family when they crave for crabs. We ordered the 13000 yen courses (sashimi & shabu), and they were really nice. The differences between all you can eat crabs and kani honor crabs...were major. The sweetness and stringy-ness of the crabs evidently shows that the crabs are very fresh. There is zero saltiness to the meat, which is what the snow crab legs in the states taste like, and the kaiseki dishes are very interesting. I would strongly recommend this place if you are not looking for ayce frozen crab legs in Sapporo. Someone pointed out that the price is high. I have to agree, but 130 usd for nicely crafted crab dishes that I can never have in the states is well worth It.More

Came here for dinner and ordered 1 set of crab meal, udon, and crab rice. Total cost about SGD160. Definitely worth it. The only thing disappointed me is one of the lady staff was not forthcoming with kid. Was Surprise to see this as Japanese...service has been top notch during our stay. But, in terms of their food quality, hands down!More

A very Japanese restaurant, specialised in crab menus. Nearly everything on the menu contains crab in one shape of format, and much of the food is delicious. For me a few of the dishes is too much, like raw crab leg meat, but for enthusiasts...I am sure it is exquisite. Super service, great, classic Japanese interior with a small twist. Try it, unless you do not like crab.More

Sapporo is well known for their dishes involving crabs. Although this place has several floors one should better book in advance to avoid disappointment. The menu has lots of different dishes made out of crabs, with the exception of some tuna sashimi. We tried almost...everything... I found the boiled crab to taste much better than the grilled one. Crab sushi was very good but the crab crockets were really exceptional. Each dish comes with its own sauce. Service is very good and staff friendly. I wouldn’t however suggest this as a place that you go often. Perhaps once its ok for the experience. Besides, its a bit overpriced.More

Crab is one of the specialties of Hokkaido, so of course we had to have some! There are many crab restaurants in Sapporo. We chose this one because it was in Susukino near the ice sculptures (we were in Sapporo for the Snow Festival). They...have ALL the crab! King crab, queen crab, hairy crab (so much better than it sounds), cooked many different ways. We had one of the set menus--totally recommend that as you can experience all the different crabs prepared as many ways as you can imagine. Look for ones that include sashimi, boiled hairy crab, and shabu shabu--everything was delicious. Not inexpensive and yes, touristy (there's even a gift shop), but well worth it. Go on the early side for lunch if you don't want to wait for a table.More

Food was ok.. a bit inconsistent in quality to be honest.. grill fish was very good but crab dishes was only passable. Lunch sets at around 5000yen represents good value but we found Steakhouse Hama to be of better value. Good to go for the...experience but not a place we would aim to go back again.More

Unfortunately this is an all-smoking restaurant, and there was no other way you can have a meal here. With much anticipation we made our way here, but with great disappointment we had to leave. Smoke was pungent enough that you can smell it the moment...you exit the lift, and it literally gets into your eyes. Needless to say we will not patronise any of this chain.More

We wanted to have an authentic japanese experience eating Hokkaido crab and found it here. The traditional set up of the restaurant creates a soothing ambience. The room we dined in was tatami styled but you don't actually need to cross your legs on the...floor, there's a hole in the ground for your legs so it's very comfy. The food was good and the service is exceptional. We had someone who was efficient and customer friendly, she also served us and prepared our food for us professionally. (They were all in kimono so that was nice too!) We got the kaiseki and the serving pace was just nice; we didn't have to wait long for each dish and it kept us very filled. Overall, would recommend!More

Excellent Japanese sea food restaurant! I highly recommend this place and have to try the "Harry Crab" or "Kegani". but they taste better in the winter months. Also the "Uni" or sea urchin is awesome.
