We went to Aiyo for dinner based TripAdvisor’s high ratings, however, we were a little surprised that the waitress made us order a drink each first, even though we came for dinner, and then we later realized that we had to pay a 390 per...person cover charge just for sitting down, on top of everything we ordered. We ordered the top 4 choices on the wall, chicken and pork Yakitori for each of us, plus some other dishes. Pork hot pot was sold-out before we can order it. The food tasted pretty good overall. However, some smokers in the room made it pretty unbearable to stay longer. The overall price tag for four came out to 8000+, not too bad for Japan but definitely not a single $ sign as suggested by TripAdvisor.More

One of my best meals in hokkaido. The other was in asahikawa. The bukake rice was damn delicious! Staffs were super friendly and even gave me additional sashimi. Probably due to me shouting aiyo really loud and enthusiastically.

We were little lost as this is not on the Main Street. It’s near to Richmond hotel. The sashimi is cheap here is fresh at 690 yen per pax you get 5 types but there is a min order of 2 pax. Great service too!

The seafood was amazing! Everyone here is very fun and outgoing. We ordered a little bit of everything. The uni and toro roll was excellent!

Really nice Izakaya (Japanese pub / tavern) with the entire restaurant segregated into different sections to create a feeling that each table was a “private booths”. The restaurant carries a very energetic and noisy vibe (think J-pop playing from speakers, waiters and waitresses shouting “itarashai”...at the top of their lungs everytime someone walks in) which is expected for an Izakaya and this is the kind of setting my wife and I like a lot! When we entered the restaurant, the place was packed with locals, which took us a little by surprise. A word of warning, there is no English menu but the staff are very helpful and patient. Pasted on the wall is also their “top 5 dishes” which helped to make ordering easier. Favourite dishes of the night were (in no particular order): 1. Ikura and whitebait rice (their number 1 best seller, be prepared for a little show that comes with ordering this dish!) 2. Tofu in seaweed soup (this was surprisingly good!) 3. Chicken wings in their “secret” sauce (this was a little too sweet for me but it was still enjoyable) 4. Takoyaki (octopus balls) 5. Japanese egg omelette (tamagoyaki) - although this was their number 2 best seller i thought the other dishes were better! Really enjoyable evening and we will definitely come back again!More
