Kyoto has so many good restaurants, but if you want good Italian food, this is the place for you! Pizzas and Pasta are wonderful.

Had a craving for pasta and found this place expecting it to be full at 8-9pm weekday. It was surprisingly almost empty. Easily found by looking for the large neon VOX sign outside. The seafood pasta tasted right, was light and relatively mild. The bruschetta was OK too. Nothing spectacular, but easy to get.

Walked in seeing the italian flag outside. Couldnt find the name of the restaruant in the front to 'tripadvisor' it. The food is actsually very nice in low price. The first time we had pasta in the past two weeks. Great break from japanies cousine.

The restaurant is really nice, well decorated, spacious and super clean. I visit the place whenever I feel the need for pasta. really amazing Chef who spent a life time cooking in Italy and the products are imported directly from there (as I was informed). Menu is really diverse, lots of things to try. I definitely will eat there again.

The mushroom spice sauce (no meat) spaghetti is to die for! Only let down is this restaurant is expensive, Lunch times are better as you get an all you can eat buffet included which consists of pizzas salads and drinks.

There are so many good restaurants in the area, it is difficult to understand the excellent ratings for this one. This is more of a best of class type restaurant. The price was reasonable, the food was fresh and tasty but definitely not innovative or exceptional and the service was good just not exceptional. The atmosphere is fairly basic but... More

Been here for a lunch. The pizza is good, the prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. Nice diversion from local food after a few weeks...

During our trip in Japan, we went to Capricciosa in Kyoto. We tried some pasta and pizza which were both delicious. There is also an English menu and one of the staff could speak English that is quite helpful. The service is friendly. Allover this is a good place if you wanna change from Japanese food.

This restaurant is hidden behind an alley and is on the second floor, there's a spiraling staircase to go up. Inside, the settings look very much like a bar and grill but very cosy. We didn't understand the menu as it was in Japanese and waiters did not speak much English. So had a bit of difficulty ordering our food.... More

A very good Italian restaurant in Kyoto Station with a vast range of Italian dishes and pizza. Being from New York and of Italian descent, I was very surprised to find so many good Italian restaurants in Japan and Kyoto in particular. Not fancy but crowded with a young Japanese crowd who seem to appreciate the Italian cuisine.

Staying in Pontocho

Neighbourhood Profile
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls, Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life, making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Verandas are always filled with people young and old crowding tables, biting into hot yakitori or sipping cold beers. It is a culinary heart of Kyoto as much as one of its most laid-back, clamorous, and entertaining evening hotspots. Pontocho has more of an amiable vibrancy to it than an elegant one, attracting newcomers, local veterans, and everyone in between, in casual attire like sneakers and jeans.
