Hello, I can't speak for the food. But the only thing I can tell you was that I went there 3 times and I was sent away all three: the first one I was too close to their closing time; the second one it was too late after lunch; the third one they had run out of the vegetarian dish.... More

Rare quality, great products, simply prepared, vegetables cooked just like they should, overall we had an excellent veggie dinner The design is exceptionally nice (except that the chairs can be a little uncomfortable).

We had lunch there once as we were staying in a hotel opposite the road. The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic and the decor amazing. I have lived in korea for 1 year and have not seen something similar. Dishes are average however. I ordered the curry chicken which had no chicken at all. But ok you go there apparently for... More

We were shattered after a 12 hour flight and the lovely tea and calm atmosphere were a real blessing. We left feeling revived and sooo much better! I can't remember the tea we had but it contained lots of ginger and honey.

Wonderful food, delicious teas, excellent cakes, and a beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant is just gorgeous inside. My husband had a curry for 1,000 yen and I had the amazing vegan bibimbap for 1200. We shared a wildly delicious spiced cake for dessert. I'm not normally a really huge fan of Korean food but this was very good, with well-balanced spices... More

This artful teahouse was a wonderful surprise. We walked in off the street, drawn by the decor, and so glad we did. I had a vegetable tempura with a curry sauce, and my partner a bowl of pumpkin soup. It can't explain the crafted, full of life, delicious experience. And then, the tea. Goodness. Go try it - you won't... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
