Katsukura is a very popular, small chain of tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurants in Japan. We visited the one in Kyoto Station, for an early lunch so we beat the crowds. After you order, the server gives you a small mortar and pestle to grind...More

Located on 11F. Look for the never ending escalators in the cube. The pork tenderloin was tender and really tasty. We also enjoyed making our own dipping sauce by grinding down the sesame seeds and mixing them with the sauces provided. The vegetable miso soup...More

As promised, this was as good of Tonkatsu as they come. We tried both the regular and 'Zen' Loins (more fat, more delicious-ness), served on a metal rack to preserve crispness with bottomless Miso soup, tea and barley rice. This place lets one grind their...More

We spent 3 days in Tokyo before arriving in Kyoto. It was impossible to find good vegetarian options. This was my first real meal in Japan and it was fantastic. I loved everything a bout it and highly recommend.

The tonkatsu here is simply oiishi and tender. The miso soup is very flavourful and is served in generous portion and refillable. Also enjoy the creamy crab croquette.

Came in around 7pm Tuesday night. There was line up, but this place had seating out the front and was quick to shuffle people in and out. I ordered the Loin Katsudon, the meat was extremely tough and dry. I had to really hold the...More

We had Tonkatsu a few times during a trip to Japan, but this was definitely our favourite. The pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly for me (slightly pink and very tender) and it was really tasty. We also enjoyed making our own paste by grinding down...More
