We went to Karela based on the recommendation in Lonely Planet, and it was excellent. Food was delicious and so cheap, just 900 ¥ each! Manager spoke excellent English and gave us some recommendations on places to visit.

The name Kerala is a bit misleading as one would think this is a South Indian restaurant. It is primarily a North Indian restaurant. The owner is from Kerala. His son Mahesh was there and did a great job of managing the small but busy...More
Having been recommended to dine at Kerala and it being my birthday, I was optimistic about the visit. On arrival, my partner and I were asked to wait for a table as the restaurant was full. This wasn't a problem, as it was Saturday night...More

There is a good choice of Indian dishes.Typical for many other restaurants in Japan as well the entire restaurant is managed by just 3 people.
I needed a break from Japanese food and was happy to find this around the corner from my hotel. Lovely meal and realised how little spice the Japanese seem to use and that I had missed it! Friendly staff who spoke perfect english.
