We went to Gion and found this restaurant accidentally, they served tepanyaki (hot plate) in their traditional way. Quality and price are considered as reasonable compare with the area. I personally recommend this restaurant for mid-range dinner with fun style.

Okonomi with seafood and their spicy secret sauce was Oishi! Scallops were a pass. Add egg to the noodles for super Oishi dish.

A different type of Japanese food we’ve not had before and a fun eating experience. A very small restaurant with heated hot plates in front of everyone - for keeping the food hot more than cooking it, it’s mostly cooked when it’s delivered to you...More

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"
in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and
entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
streets on their way to and from work, where they fan
dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion
